Factual error: During the scene where the laser is used to heat the popcorn in Hathaway's house, the laser hist the ground, works its way up the side of the house and then settles on the window. At that point it stops moving. This seems impossible since the laser is being fired from a moving airplane and would constantly need a slightly different angle in order to keep hitting the house in the same spot.

Real Genius (1985)
1 factual error - chronological order
Directed by: Martha Coolidge
Starring: Val Kilmer, William Atherton, Michelle Meyrink, Gabriel Jarret
Continuity mistake: In the scene where everyone is going to the Tanning Invitational, Chris grabs two Hawaiian Lei's and a straw hat from a girl at the door. He puts a blue lei on Mitch and holds on to the red one and the hat. The shot switches to just Chris and when it goes back to Mitch he has on the red lei. Back to Chris again who talks a little more then reaches over and puts the hat on Mitch's head, who is again wearing the blue lei.
Chris Knight: Okay Mitch, I'm gonna make it up to you. Let's just pause, put that down. Let's just take a step back. No, I was wrong, I'm sorry, take a step forward. Now, take a step back. Step forward. Back. And then we're cha-cha-ing.
Mitch: Will you stop it? I'm serious.
Chris Knight: Okay, I'm serious too.
Trivia: When Mitch first arrives on campus, he's talking with a professor. After the conversation, Mitch takes a step back and bumps into another student. This student is played by Tom Hanks.
Suggested correction: It is not Tom Hanks, just a guy who looks similar to him.
