Continuity mistake: When Darren apologizes to Emily for hitting her with the car, the curly-haired woman standing behind him is looking up at Emily. But in the very next shot, her eyes are down - and only when Emily lets out her colorful exclamation does she finally look up. (00:08:35)
Continuity mistake: When Emily shows up in front of Stephanie in the bookstore, in the "Boo!" close-up of Blake Lively, there are people in the background who then change positions in the blink of an eye when the camera cuts - like the black guy who's staring straight ahead in one shot, but is dozing off in the wider angle. Continuity mistake: When Emily makes her surprise entrance at Stephanie's poorly attended reading, the woman who tries for inscrutable reasons to stop her from coming in somehow moves from the left side of the hallway to the right side of the room during Emily's three slow-motion steps, and even repeats the same motion later after Emily's "boo." Continuity mistake: At the book promotion event, Stephanie's agent walks up to her and starts talking about the book tour being in jeopardy. When we see her from the side, in a wide shot of the room, Anna Kendrick has several strands of hair from her ponytail that are falling over her shoulders. But in the front-facing shot, her hair is perfectly pulled back. (00:06:10)
Continuity mistake: As Stephanie and Miles walk toward Darren and the buses, the natural lighting is noticeably flat in the first part of the scene - the street is mostly in shadow. But just before and after that, it's sunny. You can really see the change when Darren asks her if she's being a "helicopter parent." (00:04:35)
Continuity mistake: In the opening tracking shot of the scene where Miles and the other kids are about to leave for camp, there are a lot of people walking across the lower part of the frame, covering the entire width of the street. But toward the back, on the left, you can see someone in an aqua green shirt - that's Darren - talking to his daughter, telling her not to bite anyone. We see him up close in the first cut, but all the people who had been walking toward him have disappeared. (00:04:20)
