Continuity mistake: Vampires don't like sunlight, but when Nathan was walking toward Elaine, the sun was shining through the windows on him. When the camera shifted to Elaine, the curtains/blinds behind her were closed, which would not enable enough sunlight to penetrate into the room and onto Nathan like it did.
