Halloween Kills

While Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis), Karen (Judy Greer), and Allyson (Andi Matichak) are going to the hospital, firefighters arrive at Laurie's burning house. One firefighter falls through the floor into the basement. The weapons cache grate opens and Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle) emerges and kills the firefighter with his own halligan bar. Michael Myers escapes from the burning house and kills all the firefighters with a halligan bar, axes, and a buzz saw. Sheriff Barker (Omar Dorsey) realises Michael Myers is alive. Barker and his officers continue their hunt for Michael.

Michael then attacks Sondra Dickerson (Diva Tyler) and her husband Phil. Michael breaks a fluorescent light tube and stabs Sondra in the side of her neck with it, damaging her voice box. Sondra is forced to watch as Michael kills Phil by stabbing him with several knives. Michael takes a knife and escapes into town. It is revealed on the news that Michael Myers and Anthony Tivoli (Ross Bacon) are the only two Smith's Grove patients the cops have not yet found. Michael Myers continues to murder other residents. Meanwhile, Lonnie Elam's (Robert Longstreet) son Cameron has found Frank Hawkins (Will Patton) and brought him to the hospital. Former sheriff Leigh Brackett (Charles Cyphers) is now a hospital guard.

1978 survivor Tommy Doyle (Anthony Michael Hall) organizes a mob to hunt down and kill Michael Myers. Nurse Marcus (Michael Smallwood) and his beautiful wife, doctor Vanessa (Carmela McNeal) join 1978 survivors Marion Chambers (Nancy Stephens) and Lindsey Wallace (Kyle Richards) on the hunt for Michael. At a park, Lindsey leaves Marion, Marcus and Vanessa in the car while she orders two kids to go home. Michael attacks Marion, Marcus, and Vanessa. Vanessa escapes the car. Marion tries to shoot Michael, but her gun is out of bullets. Michael stabs Marion to death. Marcus tries to strangle Michael with his stethoscope, but Michael stabs him in his left eye, killing him instantly. Vanessa walks to the driver's side and aims her gun at Michael, but Michael kicks the door into her arm, causing Vanessa to shoot herself in the head. Lindsey attacks Michael with a bag of bricks, but Michael grabs her by the throat. Lindsey starts pulling Michael's mask up, causing him to let go of her while he pulls the mask back down. Lindsey escapes Michael and is eventually taken to the hospital by Tommy. Michael returns to his childhood home and kills the current owners in Judith's bedroom, gouging one's eyes out and stabbing the other to death. Tivoli arrives at the hospital for help, but is unfortunately mistaken for Michael and hunted by the angry mob. Sheriff Barker throws down his cowboy hat and bravely tries to stop the mob with help from his officers, but the mob members force their way upstairs. Despite Karen's attempt to save Tivoli, he sadly gives up and jumps out of a window to his death. Lonnie, Cameron and Allyson go to the Myers house. Michael kills Lonnie and Cameron. Before he can kill Allyson, Karen stabs him in his back with a pitchfork and takes his mask, tricking him out into the open.

Tommy and his mob arrive and viciously beat Michael after he puts his mask back on. While Laurie is still in the hospital, telling Frank about Michael's invulnerability, Michael takes his revenge on the mob, killing Brackett first, then killing all the others with his knife. Michael kills Tommy last by stabbing him and bashing his head in with Tommy's own baseball bat, then finds Karen in Judith's bedroom staring out the window. Michael kills Karen then stares out the window. Laurie plans to battle Michael and ultimately end his reign of terror.

Plot hole: Tommy leads the mob after the 2nd escaped patient, thinking it's Michael, but Tommy should have known it wasn't Michael. He saw the patient on the TV at the bar at the beginning of the film.

Question: Why does Michael head back to his old house and why does Karen go inside it by herself?

Rob245

Answer: It was his own personal man cave, he was born and raised there. It was the only place he felt safe and secure. In just about every "Halloween" film he always returned to his home. It belonged to him. I personally believe Karen went there to get a feel for the place, trying to make sense of everything. Why does a normal kid turn into a ruthless killing machine, was it just him or was it the house itself.
