Continuity mistake: When Clarence takes out her camera to take photos of the plantation, Iniko says "You're not allowed to take photos" to which Clarence replies "Garuz told me I can." In this shot, the camera is held in a position where the lens is pointed directly forwards. When the shot cuts, the camera is directly facing the ground. (01:19:30)
Continuity mistake: When Clarence starts taking pictures of the plantation, one of the people there says "Taking pictures is forbidden." Just after he finishes saying this, Iniko is standing right beside Clarence and begins to walk forwards. The shot then cuts and Iniko is suddenly standing several meters ahead of Clarence. (01:19:37)
Continuity mistake: When Iniko takes Clarence into the barn, and he talks with Simon, Clarence begins putting some photographs back into her bag. In this shot, some of her ponytail can be seen going over the front of her right shoulder. Simon begins walking over to her and none of the ponytail can be seen over her shoulder. Simon attempts to talk to her and her ponytail is suddenly over her right shoulder again. (01:20:50)
Continuity mistake: When Clarence is in the barn with Iniko and Simon, and Iniko translates his sentence, a group of men run into the barn. Clarence is turning around to face the men. The camera then cuts to Iniko running up to the men, and Clarence is suddenly looking straight forwards at him and then turns to face the men a second time. (01:21:04)
Continuity mistake: When the group of men leave the barn after threatening Clarence, Iniko is shown standing beside Clarence on her right. When the shot cuts, Iniko is suddenly standing on the opposite side of her. (01:21:18)
Continuity mistake: When Clarence attempts to speak with Simon in the barn, in the shot where she says "Ask him if he's Simon" to Iniko, her ponytail can be seen going over her left and right shoulder. In the next shot, her ponytail can only be seen over her left shoulder. Then in the shot after that, her ponytail is entirely behind her head. Then it's over her left shoulder again, then away from her shoulder. (01:21:30)
Continuity mistake: After Iniko tells Clarence that Simon never swore to speak her language again, Simon replies "Sometimes I'd prefer not to, though" and Clarence turns to face Iniko asking what's he saying. When she does this, her ponytail can be seen going over her right shoulder, but in the next shot, it is suddenly behind her shoulder. (01:21:50)
Continuity mistake: When Simon asks Clarence to send his regards to Killian, in the shot of Iniko saying "He says he will be glad to hear it", Simon places his hands on Clarence's face. In this shot, Clarence's ponytail can be seen going over her right shoulder. When the shot cuts, Clarence is standing completely still, but when the shot cuts again, the ponytail is suddenly away from her shoulder. (01:22:50)
Continuity mistake: When Killian returns to the village in 1957, the shot after the "Bisappoo, Fernando Poo 1957" text appears on screen, Bisila is holding baby Iniko in her arms whilst she sees Killian walking into the village. At the end of this shot, her hand is over the Iniko's shoulder. The next shot, Killian hugs Ose, and in the background to the right, we can see Bisila holding Iniko with her hand now placed on his back. (01:26:07)
Continuity mistake: When Killian and Ose reunite in 1957, Ose says "Come meet him" and proceeds to take Killian to meet Bisila's baby. In this shot, Killian has his hand placed on Ose's right shoulder, and Ose has his hand placed on Killian's back. In the next shot, Killian's hand is now placed on Ose's upper back, and Ose's hand is at his side. (01:26:16)
Continuity mistake: When Killian reunites with Simon, in the shot where Killian says to Ose "Do you want independence as well, like Simon and Gustavo?", Killian has his right arm extended and his hand placed on Simon's arm. When the shot cuts, Killian's right arm is at his side. (01:27:15)
Continuity mistake: Killian walks into a club and is greeted by a woman he knows. In the shot of the woman saying "On the other hand, you are a one-woman man", she is rubbing his shoulder with her right hand. In the next shot, her right hand is on his upper arm. (01:27:53)
Continuity mistake: When Killian and Jacobo reunite in the club in 1957, gunshots are heard prompting everyone to duck. In the shot of Killian ducking, he is shown exiting the frame whilst the camera focuses on Jacobo. In the shot, we can see Jacobo's entire torso in frame, with no sign of Killian. The next shot, we can see Killian's head is level with Jacobo's chest, even though he wasn't standing that high up in the previous shot. (01:28:56)
Continuity mistake: In 1960, when Killian is speaking with Julia in the shop, the shot after Killian says "I don't know" after being asked if Jacobo is coming back, the baby Julia is holding has her left hand over her mouth. The shot then cuts to a wider shot of the room and the baby's hand is now away from her mouth. (01:31:55)
Continuity mistake: When Bisila meets up with Julia in the street to tell her about Father Rafael calling the hospital, in the shot where Bisila says "He called the hospital; he's really nervous", a woman in a white patterned dress, with her hair tied with a ribbon can be seen walking past Bisila. The same woman can be seen walking past Julia in the following shot. A couple seconds later, when Julia asks "Gustavo?", the same woman can be seen walking past her a second time. (01:32:44)
Continuity mistake: When Bisila is speaking to Julia about a friend of hers named Gustavo who came to the church, after Julia tells her he was arrested months ago, the camera cuts to a shot focusing on Bisila. In this shot, her hands are folded. But in the next shot, her right hand is suddenly touching her face. (01:32:57)
Continuity mistake: When Killian is in the car with Julia and Bisila and are about to approach the soldiers blocking the road, in one shot his hand can be seen placed on top of the steering wheel. When it cuts to a shot from behind, his hand cannot be seen on the top of the steering wheel. (01:33:22)
Continuity mistake: When Bisila meets with Killian in the barn, the two begin walking at opposite ends of the barn in sync with each other. When Killian begins to walk, he puts his left hand on a support beam. When the shot cuts, his left hand is at his side. (01:38:50)
Continuity mistake: In December 1963, whilst Julia and Manuel are talking, Killian is shown in the foreground of shot playing with the kid. When Julia is saying "With Gustavo in the council, we have a friend in the new party", Killian has his hand raised a foot or two above the ground whilst the kid drops some stuff into his hand. In the next shot, Killian's hand is much lower down to the ground. (01:46:20)
Continuity mistake: When Jacobo returns to the plantation in April 1964, Basila begins to walk back into the hospital. When she does this, Julia is touching both her hands. In the next shot, one of her hands is at her side. Then in the shot after that, she is touching both her hands again. (01:50:43)
