Shazam! is a fun, fast-paced romp of a superhero film where the title character is a kid who can become a mighty champion of good with multiple powers just by saying a magical word! Shazam! delivers mostly lighthearted gags and humor related to the genre, when its not contrasting such things with villainy in need of thwarting. Enjoyable antidote to all the overly-serious things, in real life and bogging down hero movies. Don't miss this.

I rented this movie from RedBox.

Well it's about damn time DC was able to make a legit good and funny movie. This might just be the DCEU's best yet.
A good turn around from the slog fest they'd been putting out under the Slo-Mo king, Zack Snyder. This was fun! Entertaining, and just... warm. A DC movie that's actually colorful and fun? What blaspheme is this!? It's a breath of fresh air and I can't recommend it more. Zachary Levi nails this role.

Mistake Status: It's a superhero movie. So of course I'll get to examining it closely when I can.

Continuity mistake: After Billy catches the bus, argues with Freddy and leaves, the floor around the people besides it is dry, then wet, repeatedly.

Rosa Vasquez: Please don't say anything weird to Billy.
Freddy Freeman: You mean like how the Romans used to brush their teeth with their own urine?

Trivia: In the toy shop, Shazam steps on a floor piano and starts playing it with his feet for a moment. This is a reference to the Tom Hanks movie Big, where it is also a boy trapped in a man's body.

Question: Why is the character called Shazam instead of his original name, Captain Marvel? The character first appeared in DC comics in 1939 so, shouldn't the name belong to him and not the Marvel universe?

Answer: Fawcett Comics originally published Captain Marvel, not DC. DC sued, claiming the character was too similar to Superman, and Fawcett stopped publication in 1953, and sold the rights to DC in 1972. But in the intervening period Marvel had started their own "Captain Marvel" character and got the trademark for it, as Fawcett's had expired. So while the character remained technically called Captain Marvel, DC used the trademark "Shazam" in marketing, and in 2011 renamed the character to Shazam officially, as people generally thought that was his name anyway.
