Continuity mistake: In the end, when Michael has grabbed Karen's ankle and is trying to pull her down into the basement, Allyson grabs a knife off the floor and stabs him. However, if you watch very closely, you can see she's already holding the knife in one shot before she grabs it. (It's the shot right before Laurie screams "I've got you!" to Karen.) You have to pay attention because it goes by quickly, but you can see Allyson lifting the knife into frame for a split second, even though she doesn't pick it up off the floor until about 15 seconds later.

Forty years have passed since evil serial killer Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle) tried to kill Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) on Halloween night in 1978. Michael murdered his sister Judith Myers (Sandy Johnson) on Halloween in 1963, and murdered five people in 1978. Michael Myers was shot six times by Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) but survived, and was committed to Smith's Grove Sanitarium.
In 2018, Michael's new psychiatrist is Dr. Ranbir Sartain (Haluk Bilginer) after the death of Dr. Loomis. True Crime podcasters Aaron Korey (Jefferson Hall) and Dana Haines (Rhian Rees) visit Smith's Grove to meet with Michael and understand why he killed Judith and his other victims, before Michael and other patients will be transferred to a new facility. Michael hasn't spoken to anyone since he murdered Judith and remains mute despite Sartain's efforts to get him to speak. Michael is also blind in his left eye since Laurie stabbed him in that eye with a coat hanger in 1978. Sartain takes Aaron and Dana to the courtyard, where Aaron takes out Michael's mask. Except for a slight glimpse over his shoulder, Michael just stands with his back turned to them and doesn't react, although the other patients start screaming at the sight of the white mask.
Aaron and Dana then travel to Laurie's compound, where she has been training with shotguns and preparing herself for a confrontation with Michael Myers if he ever escapes. Laurie's daughter is Karen (Judy Greer), whose own daughter is Allyson (Andi Matichak). After failing to convince Laurie to go with them to sit down with Michael, Aaron and Dana prepare to leave Haddonfield. The prison bus crashes at night, and Michael escapes. Aaron and Dana stop at the Haddonfield cemetery, where caretaker Sondra Dickerson (Diva Tyler) discusses the murder of Judith Myers with them. Meanwhile, Sheriff Barker (Omar Dorsey) and Officer Frank Hawkins (Will Patton) are on the hunt for Michael after learning of the bus crash. Michael follows Aaron and Dana to a gas station.
After killing a mechanic and a clerk, Michael attacks Dana in the bathroom. Aaron tries to save Dana, but Michael slams his head repeatedly into the wall and stall door, then strangles Dana and retrieves his mask. Michael then murders Allyson's friends Vicky (Virginia Gardner), Dave, Oscar, and other Haddonfield residents. Sheriff Barker allows Sartain to help Hawkins find Michael. Hawkins and Sartain find Allyson and Hawkins runs Michael over with his car, but Michael survives, temporarily unconscious. Sartain (who is also evil) stabs Hawkins in the neck and puts Michael in the backseat next to the terrified Allyson. When they arrive near Laurie's compound, Michael wakes up and kills Sartain while Allyson escapes into the forest. Michael kills two cops and Karen's husband Ray, then attacks Laurie, who shoots off two of Michael's fingers. Laurie and Michael viciously fight each other.
Allyson arrives, and hides in the basement with Karen. The basement is hidden under a remote-controlled kitchen island. Allyson's arrival alerts Michael, who grabs a fire poker and rips the kitchen island off its hinges. Karen shoots Michael in the right side of his face. Laurie attacks Michael with a knife, but Michael hits her with the fire poker. Laurie grabs a pan off the stove and whacks Michael with it, sending him tumbling into the basement. Allyson climbs up to the kitchen. Karen also climbs up, but Michael grabs her ankle, trying to pull her back down. Allyson grabs the knife and stabs Michael's hand twice, and Karen kicks Michael back downstairs. Laurie springs her basement trap on Michael and throws a flare down there. The house burns up while Laurie, Karen, and Allyson escape. Michael survives the fire, as his breathing is heard at the end of the end credits.
Laurie Strode: He's waited for this night... he's waited for me... I've waited for him.
Trivia: The lines said by Allyson's teacher are spoken by none other than P.J. Soles, who played Lynda in the original "Halloween."

Answer: It's never shown in the movie what happens. But there was a deleted scene where he got arrested for underage drinking after mouthing off to a police officer. Either way, he's safe for the time being, and the actor is currently slated to appear in the next sequel, "Halloween Kills."
