Factual error: A cigarette cannot ignite petroleum fumes as it does not burn hot enough. This is a common mistake found in a lot of movies.

Romeo + Juliet (1996)
1 factual error - chronological order
Directed by: Baz Luhrmann
Starring: John Leguizamo, Paul Rudd, Leonardo DiCaprio, Claire Danes, Brian Dennehy, Paul Sorvino, Jamie Kennedy, M. Emmet Walsh, Miriam Margolyes, Harold Perrineau, Christina Pickles
Revealing mistake: Leonardo DiCaprio blinks after he dies. (01:50:28)
Romeo: Why then, O brawling love, O loving hate, O anything, of nothing first create! O heavy lightness, serious vanity, Misshapen chaos of well-seeming forms, Feather of lead, bright smoke, cold fire, sick health, Still-waking sleep, that is not what it is!
Trivia: In the fight at the petrol station they are using guns instead of swords (which were used in Shakespearian times), however, when it's said "draw your swords", the dialogue didn't have to be changed for this part, because the film directors made it so that the make of the gun was "sword". Also, when Capulet says "Hand me my Longsword", he reaches for a rifle, most likely from the same factory that made the Sword pistols.
