Revealing mistake: During the opening, one of the shots showing infographics about the stolen diamond lingers long enough to allow the viewer to spot the most obvious kind of filler text - literally the "Lorem Ipsum."
Continuity mistake: When Hugh Grant writes "Protagonist" on the board, the writing changes depending on the shot, most noticeably the G - sometimes it looks a bit like a backwards question mark, other times it's so slanted it looks more like an S.
Continuity mistake: Vincent and Oliver are eating ice cream, Vincent's ice cream cone repeatedly changes levels of ice cream left in his ice cream cone as he eats it. (00:48:00)
Continuity mistake: When Paul steals the Camaro, he pulls wires out from under the dash to hot wire it. But after he gets his daughter he suddenly has keys.
Factual error: When the Doctor visits William Turner in Chelsea, he claims to be leaving by train from Charing Cross. That station did not open until 1864 - 13 years after the death of Turner.
Plot hole: When Mr. Shepherd arrives at the school he learn Joseph's (the student's) name but loses his memory. When they are telling him the nativity story Shepherd says "this Joseph" when referring to the student, but he shouldn't remember it.
Factual error: In a scene where Kat is flying to or from Northern California for college, in the background through the window on the plane one can see a commercial jet which has the winglets of a narrow-body Boeing, which were not introduced until 1998 on the Boeing 737 NextGen, rather than "wingtip fences" of an Airbus which were in use as early as 1985. Eve disappeared in 1988 when Kat was 17, so this would have been 1993 at the latest, when Kat would have been expected to have graduated from Berkeley. In the movie, it is suggested that this was just 2 years after her mother disappeared, so this would have been not later than 1990-91.
Factual error: In the opening scenes where Margaret drives to San Francisco, her car is an early 50s Meteor. Meteors were a Ford Motor Company brand just above Ford (a bit like Mercury) but were sold only in Canada. Meteors often were only rebadged Fords, like this early 50s model. The rest of 50s and 60s car choices in the film seemed perfect.
Revealing mistake: About seven minutes in, during the scene where we see Cooper helping the Nerd as a cameraman, you can tell that Cooper has been added to the scene using green-screen effects, as the actor was unavailable to shoot at the location. The lighting on Cooper doesn't quite match the lighting of the scene, and you can see a slight "blur/feathering effect" around him where the greenscreen background was removed.
Continuity mistake: There is a scene where she accidentally stabs someone - she gets blood all over her from the stabbing and then in the very next scene is wearing the same shirt without blood stains.
Revealing mistake: Jim parts his hair on the left side. The stacks of his books on display in the hallway include a photo of him with his hair parted on the right side, but otherwise looking the same. Hair that is persistently parted on one side will not easily part on the other side and lay across the head in the same way. (The image was reversed). (00:25:20)
Visible crew/equipment: When the little boy is lying in bed looking up at a hole in the wall you see a creepy hand move, the while time, if you look closely, there appears to be a human hand with human fingers to the right of it in the darkness.
Factual error: As the marchers start through the streets before they gather at the Edmund Pettis Bridge, they pass by a shop with a Pepsi sign. The Pepsi logo, however, is from the 1980s-1990s.
Continuity mistake: Near the end, Thomas is saddling a horse. He throws the stirrup over the saddle so he can cinch the girth. But he is interrupted by the presence of the witch he loves. Somehow, the horse has had its girth cinched and the stirrup is in its proper place, all without Thomas' help.
Factual error: The three panzers that ambushed the Hellcats are supposed to be Mk. III's with the 50mm gun, but they only had 5 bogie wheels, instead of 6, and no driver or radio operator's hatches.
Continuity mistake: During the early part of the movie, the left rear door of Doc's car is dented. For the rest of the movie, the dent is gone.
Continuity mistake: When Elizabeth Banks is getting out of Amos' car, when they get back from Bible study, from Banks' angle, you can see that his hand is on the knob on the steering wheel, whereas when the camera changes to Amos' angle, he isn't touching the knob. When the camera changes back to Banks, you can see his hand back on the knob. (00:48:10)
Factual error: When the guy is talking to him on the phone and the Russian smashes it on the floor, the phone smashes and the battery comes out but the guy other end can still hear him. (01:04:00)
Factual error: The newsreel at the start of the movie shows a carrier preparing to launch aircraft. The announcer claims it is the Enterprise, but in actuality, it is either the Lexington or the Saratoga, evidenced by the huge funnel.
Continuity mistake: Stretch takes the licence plate off the limo just before it's stolen. When he's clinging onto the bumper as it's being towed, the plate is back on.
