Continuity mistake: After Gerry gets smacked in the face by the 'broken' suspender clasp, we see the silver clasp land under the dresser. Yet, when he's moaning and lifting his leg to get onto the bed, we can actually see the clasp still intact on the front suspender that came loose, which is dangling right behind him (just look between his legs). Of course, in the next shot, that clasp is gone. Since the silver clasp is one of the plot points, this is bizarre to say the least. (00:11:10)
Continuity mistake: When Nick is sitting on the bed talking to Jessica, her position changes from lying on her side to lying on her back, as the camera angle changes.
Factual error: It's late 18th, possibly early 19th century and, as Jane and her sister walk along the beach, a construction crane is visible on the horizon.
Factual error: Near the beginning of the film before James McAvoy heads up to the house for the evening meal, he is seen looking up through a skylight when a Lancaster bomber slowly flies overhead. At the time it was was supposed to be 1935. The Lancaster bomber did not fly until the beginning of 1941. Can't be an Avro Manchester either, they only had two engines and first flew in 1939.
Continuity mistake: When Chazz Michael Michaels goes to Katie Van Waldenberg to "comfort" each other Chazz leaves the door slightly open. Then it has a shot of Katie then back to Chazz and the door is completely closed. Then right before Jimmy walks in it shows a shot of Chazz and the door and it is slightly open again.
Continuity mistake: When Anne is running along Camden Place with the houses on the right, as she stops to talk with Harriet there is a gentleman with a walking cane and lady on each side walking ahead of them. As Anne starts to run away the camera faces her as she is looking along Camden Place from the reverse angle i.e. with the houses on the left, the gentleman and ladies are now behind when they should be out of shot behind the camera. Continuity mistake: Near the end, when Lucy tries to get into the building, she is blocked by police officers holding clubs straight ahead in front of them. The scene cuts to a roof shot, then back again, and Lucy tries again, but the clubs are missing, the cops just have their hands out in front of them.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Randy is playing table tennis on the stage at the restaurant, just after he has finished hitting the ball blindfolded and says, "Thank you", you can see a man in the background getting up. The shot then switches to the boy with the man in the background still sitting. The shot then switches back to Randy and the man is getting up again.
Continuity mistake: The whole time Dan is in the bookstore and outside talking to Marie, he is wearing a blue undershirt. However on his way home from the bookstore, he runs a stop sign. When the cop comes up behind him you can see that his undershirt is now grey. When he gets home and walks through the door, his shirt has gone back to blue. So Dan's shirt changes a few times when everything is supposed to be in the same sequence of time and events.
Continuity mistake: In the shower scene where the soaps are dropped, what Larry is holding changes constantly. He goes from holding a white tube of something, to holding what appears to be a green shampoo bottle, to digging in a zippered case with his stuff in it, back and forth and around, several times.
