Continuity mistake: When William Petersen is talking to his kid in the supermarket, the cereal boxes behind him on the shelves change between two shots. The items behind Kevin also change during the scene. (01:09:05 - 01:10:20)
Continuity mistake: At the Policeperson's Dance, Copeland spills punch over the Commissioner's wife's white dress. As the camera view switches, her dress is already stained before she is splashed.
Continuity mistake: In the sedan/pickup chase, both of Cobra's headlights are shot out at the start with pinpoint accuracy. A minute later as the cars race down the freeway, the holes where Cobra's headlights used to be are filled with black plastic discs.
Continuity mistake: Rolland Tyler (the set-up special effects guru) and his F/X assistant Andy have one of the "dirty" cops in the truck of an old car. To get a confession out of him, they take him to a secluded place under a highway overpass and continue to ram the car, trunk first, into the overpass pillars with the cop still in the truck. The man buckles, but not before about six rear-end hits. Yet, there is very little dents or damage to the back of the car throughout the ordeal.
Continuity mistake: During Kevin Bacon's race with fellow messenger, the scenes shift back and forth from New York to San Francisco. In one city, he's on a fixed gear (no freewheel on back wheel) and when the race is taking place in the other city, he's riding a single-speed. Basically, the cityscape and bicycles switch from scene to scene.
Continuity mistake: When Eddie and Michel are in the police station and Losado comes to pick up Michel, her hair clip is on the left side of her hair. After Losado and Michel get into the car, her hair clip moves to the right side.
Continuity mistake: When Jim pushes John out the car, in the shot where John is lying on the road, his head is on the road's white stripe, yet when it cuts to a closer view, his chest is on the white line, not his head. (00:12:30)
Continuity mistake: At Ben's place, Frank enjoys a cold glass of Pabst Blue Ribbon - its colour, the level in the glass, and the amount of head change repeatedly within a few seconds.
Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie during the semi truck chase, the truck's grill is alternately damaged/intact between shots.
Continuity mistake: Ray throws Audrey into a swimming pool when he discovers that she may be sneaking out on him. She is wearing a cap, shirt, shorts, socks and sneakers and is holding a bag. In the next couple of shots, she swims away and she is barefoot.
Continuity mistake: When Max and Joey take a picture at Luigi's house, Joey is looking at the camera and not smiling while Max's hand is just below Joey's right ear, getting ready to grab it. When Max makes a copy of the picture later, Joey is looking away from the camera, smiling, and Max's hand is on Joey's shoulder. (00:50:50 - 01:14:40)
Continuity mistake: When Judge Reinhold is in his kitchen with Helen Slater he tells her they have to be ruthless. He sees a spider on the floor and gets a magazine and scoops it up. Then he goes outside to let the spider out and he puts the magazine down for 1/2 of a second. He was supposed to put the spider on the ground but if you look nothing comes off the magazine. Then he goes to squash it with his foot, but what can he squash if there's nothing there? (00:13:35)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Remy finally figures out that Ann has some serious questions about his dept., he pushes her against a tree. When the camera is on him, her necklace has swung around to the back of her dress. When the camera is on her, the necklace is 1/2 inside and 1/2 outside the front of her dress. This switches back and forth several times.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where he is fixing breakfast for his daughter, Robert Redford's shirt sleeves are down. When he goes to rescue the burning toast in the oven, his shirt sleeves are up and then they are down again. (00:15:00)
Continuity mistake: Poirot met Ariadne Oliver who invites him to the "murder hunt." Poirot and Hastings then get on a boat to head there. As they sit on the boat, there are a few extras, led by an easily identifiable lady in a yellow sweater, that move up the stairs of the pier and reach the top. The boat slowly takes off, and about 10 seconds later we see the pier again, with again those same people from before just reaching the top of the stairs. (00:02:25)
Continuity mistake: To reach Poirot, Hastings walks through the Acapulco airport with two ladies (one with a white jacket, light blue skirt, updo, carries a large brown suitcase, and another one with short hair, glasses, white trousers) that are both in front of him AND behind him, depending on the camera angle. Continuity mistake: In the hotel Christopher Walken attaches the chain lock on the door. Camera angle changes and it is not locked, then locked again when the shot changes back.
Continuity mistake: Jane Fonda gets out of Jeff Bridge's car in broad daylight, but when she enters the dead man's house, it's night-time.
