Corrected entry: In the scene just after Starling's visit with Barney, she is listening to a tape of a late night conversation between Barney and Dr. Lecter (where the good doc was comparing Starling's behaviour to that of a Roller Pigeon). This tape shouldn't even exist given that Dr. Chilton was supposedly only taping Lecter's conversations with Starling. Even the empty tape case is labelled "Lecter and Starling", yet only Lecter and Barney are on the tape.

Correction: They key word here is "supposedly". The good doctor Chilton was taping other conversations Hannibal had, and lied about it afterwards. The reason being that Lecter was his most famous inmate, and any new information from him would be worth gold. And then, in a feeble attempt to cover up, he labelled the tape as a legit recording.
