Question: Did Ronald really love Cecile, or did he just want to sleep with her? He sent her love letters, but later on, he sleeps with Kathryn. When Kathryn calls him and pretends that Sebastian attacked her, he hurries to go see her, leaving Cecile asleep in bed. So who did he really care about?

Question: If Kathryn is angry because Court wants Cecile, why did she tell Cecile's mother about Ronald? If Cecile is with Ronald, then Court is "dumped."
Answer: I don't disagree with the other comment, but I think Kathryn is jealous and bitter about Court wanting Cecile instead of her. She plans to ruin his idea that Cecile is a wholesome, innocent type by "training" Cecile to be more mischievous and promiscuous. At the same time, she can hurt Cecile by sabotaging the new relationship with Ronald.
Answer: Kathryn just wanted to hurt as many innocent people as possible. Kathryn didn't care for others' feelings. She just wanted herself to be happy and would go to extreme lengths to achieve this. Plus, she was spiteful, vindictive and, forgive the pun, cruel.

Question: Were Katherine and Sebastian's parents even still together? And where were they? I'm guessing the movie was set in the summer and they were wealthy, so had taken off for a long holiday.
Answer: Kathryn tells Sebastian that "the parental units called," as if they are together at the place that they called from. He asks if her "gold-digging" mother is enjoying Bali. She jokes about his "alcoholic" father "diddling the maid." I think the parents called from a hotel in Bali (so she is referring to a hotel maid). They are together, even if the marriage is just a sham at this point.
Answer: We the audience are never told one way or the other where the parents are. But according to Katherine, Sebastian's father is diddling the maid (or something). Meanwhile the mother, either one, is either, a) dead, b) in rehab or c) as you say on a permanent vacation.
They are together. Kathryn says that "the parental units called." They're in Bali, and the maid is probably a hotel maid there.
Answer: A bit of both. I believe that Ronald did love Cecile. But I also believe that Kathryn manipulated him in such a way and so much that he eventually gave in to his masculine tendencies. He's only human, after all. He wasn't anticipating Kathryn telling anyone, let alone Sebastian finding them in the act.
