Paradise Cove (2021)

Revealing mistake: When Knox pulls up behind the parked BMW, the BMW's red tail light reflectors are not real (and maybe the car isn't, either). The reflector on the right side, in particular, is not fully connected to the car. (00:03:55)

Character mistake: Bree stated, "Domestic dogs are members of genus canis. They're carnivores, you know, descended from wolves." Dogs are actually "omnivores", not true/strict/obligate carnivores. (01:32:58)

Trivia: Movie is based on a true story that happened in Malibu and the house used for filming belongs to writer Sherry Klein.

Character mistake: Bree said, "Even the smallest pup can smell meat from 40 feet away." Puppies may not be able to smell quite as well as their adult counterpart, but dogs have excellent smell. It is estimated that dogs (under ideal conditions) can smell as far as 20 km (12+ miles). I suspect someone did a quick Google search of "how far can a puppy smell" and the following was visible: "On a windy, bright day, a dog might be able to smell a person standing upwind at 40 feet away. But..." and quit reading. (01:33:07)

Other mistake: Knox and Tracey were driving from Detroit to Malibu. When Knox got out of his truck, "BANNATT" CONSTRUCTION was on the driver's door. Under "cast" at the end of the movie (as well as on various websites), their last name is "Bannett." Also, Michigan requires only one license plate, but Knox's truck (presumably registered in Michigan) also had a front license plate (but the state was not readable). (00:04:00 - 01:39:40)

Trivia: The license plate on the BMW is "MLBULAW." The acronym "MLBU" is used for "Midwife Led Birthing Unit." Taking the "LAW" into consideration, the "MLBU" most likely represents "Major League Baseball Union." The MLB's season was shortened in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Grievances and labor disputes required expensive lawyer fees (millions of dollars). (00:03:55)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: First, the name of MLB's union is the Payers Association, so the initials are MLBPA, not MLBU. Second, the film was in post-production when COVID hit, so while filming there would be no reason to "represent" the MLBPA since the season hasn't been affected. Third, MLBU also stands for Mobile Laundry and Bathing Unit. MALBU LAW simply stands for Malibu Law and this entry has nothing to do with the film.

Deliberate mistake: Driving to Malibu, Knox's truck is going the wrong direction on the road - the solid double yellow lines are on the passenger's side and the solid white line is on the driver's side. (The driver is on the left side of the vehicle.) There is no solid white line on the opposite side, indicating it is a one-direction road. The truck quickly crosses over the yellow lines and goes off-screen, after which it can be seen there's a wide paved shoulder that tapers to the edge near the intersection. (00:03:20)
