Scream (2022)

Continuity mistake: When Sam and Ritchie are driving to Woodsboro, pay attention to the background outside the windows. Multiple times, the lighting goes from sunny-style lighting to darker, overcast-style lighting between cuts.

Scream (2022)

Continuity mistake: When Liv says to Chad, "Aw, you gonna stalk me like a jealous boyfriend?" outside the school, her head goes from tilted 90 degrees to the left to suddenly being tilted about 45 degrees to the right between cuts.

Scream (2022)

Continuity mistake: When Chad and Liv are talking about how he sent her a "Find My Fam" request outside the school, Chad starts to turn his head from Liv and towards Wes and Amber. Then, it cuts to a close-up of him, and he is suddenly looking at Liv again and turns his head towards Wes and Amber a second time.

Scream (2022)

Audio problem: When Ritchie tells Sam, "I'm coming with you," right before they leave the bowling alley, Ritchie's line seems strangely dubbed in. It just doesn't quite match his lip movements for the first half.

Scream (2022)

Continuity mistake: When Sam and Ritchie are outside the bowling alley and Sam says, "I gotta go!" after getting the call from Wes, suddenly she has her hands up by her face instantly between cuts, right before Ritchie stops her. (It happens quickly, and she's facing away from the camera, so it can be hard to catch.)

Continuity mistake: When Sam's phone rings outside the bowling alley, and she pulls it out, the way she's holding it changes completely between shots.

Scream (2022)

Scream (2022)

Continuity mistake: When Ritchie approaches Sam outside the bowling alley and jokingly asks her what she just took, when the camera cuts from one angle to the next as Sam replies, "Your boner pills," the look on her face changes completely between cuts. Additionally, in the first shot, she was holding up an energy drink that should be visible in the second shot, but isn't.

Scream (2022)

Continuity mistake: In the opening scene, when Tara mentions how she saw "Stab" once when she was a kid and the caller says "You live in Woodsboro and you don't know 'Stab?!'", the way Tara is holding the phone changes slightly between edits.

Scream (2022)

Continuity mistake: In the opening scene, when Tara puts the mail down on the counter and stands next to it while on the phone, the position of her body and the mail changes slightly when it cuts from the medium shot to the wide shot.

Scream (2022)

Trivia: The first, and as of 2023 only, "Scream" movie in which someone is not killed in the opening scene. In every other "Scream" movie, two or more people are killed in the opening scene. This movie instead subverts the trope by implying Tara is killed before revealing that she survived her attack.

Scream (2022)

Trivia: MAJOR SPOILERS: Courtney Cox was heartbroken when she read the script and saw that Dewey got killed off, since he was such a likeable, positive character. She tried to talk the directors out of actually killing him by throwing in a last-minute twist that he was still alive, such as her getting a text from him at the hospital and revealing he wasn't the one in the body-bag. However, she ultimately agreed with their decision to kill him off, since it raised the stakes.

Scream (2022)

Trivia: When the group of friends are first introduced, if you look closely, Wes and Amber are snacking on a bag of grapes. This is a bizarrely specific reference to a scene from the first film, in which Tatum and Stu are also seen snacking on a bag of the same type of grapes. SPOILER ALERT: Just like in the original film, one of the people eating the fruit (Amber) is one of the killers, while the other person (Wes) is a victim.

Scream (2022)

Trivia: During the scene that reveals Kirby is still alive via YouTube link, if you look very closely, you can also see a link to a YouTube conspiracy video called "Did the Real-Life Stu Macher survive?" This is an easter-egg referencing a popular fan-theory that Stu actually survived the original film and would return as the killer in a future installment.

Scream (2022)

Trivia: Some theaters had a bonus scene that appeared right before the film started in which Ghostface (voiced by Roger L. Jackson) appears onscreen and essentially hints that he will murder anyone who gives away any spoilers.

Scream (2022)

Trivia: When Dewey is watching Gale on the news, you can just barely hear a joke Gale makes about not wanting to have bangs ever again. This is a reference to Gale's unfortunate hairstyle in "Scream 3," which features some truly horrendous looking bangs. The look became something of a joke and later a meme, so the line was added as a subtle joke.

Scream (2022)

Trivia: Neve Campbell almost didn't return because she didn't want to make a "Scream" movie without Wes Craven at the helm. What persuaded her was a letter she received from the new directors, explaining their passion, admiration and respect for Craven's work. The letter quickly won her over and she joined the film soon after.

Scream (2022)

Trivia: When the dedication to Wes Craven appears at the start of the credits, you can faintly hear the sound of birds chirping. Craven was quite well-known for being an avid birdwatcher, and also fought to protect endangered species of birds. He even helped get legislation passed to ban the use of lead ammunition, which can fragment on impact and harm birds and other wildlife if accidentally ingested. The sound of birds was added as a tribute to his passion.

Scream (2022)

Trivia: It is briefly mentioned that Sidney Prescott's former home is located on "Elm Street." This is a reference to the film "A Nightmare on Elm Street," which was directed by original "Scream" director Wes Craven. (Supposedly it was going to be mentioned in the original "Scream" as well, but the reference was cut for whatever reason).

Scream (2022)

Trivia: SPOILERS: In the climax, Amber is soaked in hand sanitizer and set in fire. Amber's actress Mikey Madison had previously appeared in Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" which came out less than three years prior... where her character is similar killed by being set on fire. (Albeit with a flamethrower.) Given Madison is only 22 and has only appeared in six live-action feature films... that's actually a pretty interesting (and darkly funny) coincidence.
