Corrected entry: In the scene where Edward and Vivian are taking off to fly from L.A. to San Francisco the plane is flying south, not north. As their plane takes flight, it is shown flying toward the setting sun (west). The plane makes a very clear turn to the left (southward).

Correction: Planes don't always take off and immediately fly in the direction of their destination. Sometimes they have to be routed different ways by air traffic control because of things like weather, and other air traffic in the area.
