Continuity mistake: As Chef and Captain Willard get back on the boat after the tiger attack Clean is on the 60-caliber gun and the entire boat is camouflaged under a tree. Clean says, "Let's go" and you can see the river behind him without the tree there obstructing the view. (00:59:20)

Revealing mistake: After they ditch Kilgore they dock the PBR on the side of the river. The film jumps here as the camera hits a tree branch as it zooms in on them. (00:53:30)

Continuity mistake: Chef and Clean pull Lance into the boat after they ditch Col. Kilgore but in the next shot as Lance climbs in the boat Clean has disappeared. (00:51:15)

Continuity mistake: As they pull Colonel Kilgore's surfboard into the boat it's sitting sideways on the railing of the boat. Then in the next shot the tail fin is back in the water. (00:51:30)

Continuity mistake: Before he talks to the sergeant about fuel for the boat Captain Willard looks out at the stage were the USO show is going to be held and it's not raining as it was in the previous shot of him walking on the dock. (01:00:50)

Continuity mistake: Just after Captain Willard grabs the sergeant by the throat his cigarette appears back in his mouth between shots, than disappears again in the next shot as he walks away. (01:05:40)

Continuity mistake: When the Playboy helicopter lands the band members on the right stage are crouching behind their equipment, but in the next long shot of Bill Graham speaking to the audience they're standing there ready to play. (01:06:35)

Continuity mistake: Just as Captain Willard grabs the sergeant by the throat and pulls him over the desk Lance reaches his left hand up to his face, then in the next shot his hand is at his side. (01:05:25)

Continuity mistake: As they leave Colonel Kilgore on the beach at Vin Drin Dop the boat sails off to the left of the screen towards the bridge that was destroyed earlier in the attack. If you look at the far left of the screen there's a small Vietnamese temple with no fire anywhere near it. As they pass closer to the temple a large fire is now burning in front of it. (00:51:50)

Factual error: Captain Willard narrates to himself, "I am beyond their timid lying, morality, and so I am beyond caring" as we see a downed helicopter burning in a tree. The main rotors are detached and would not be sitting on top of the helicopter had it actually crashed and not just been placed there. In an actual helicopter crash the rotors fly off. (01:22:10)

Continuity mistake: Leaving Hau Phat Clean tells the guys a story about a, "cat in the Delta" and Lance picks up his new water skies then puts them back down again while still holding on to them. In the next shot he's not touching them anymore. (01:12:30)

Visible crew/equipment: Captain Willard says he made a deal with the playmates for all the guys and Chief Phillips says," you got some mama's in there?". You can see all the stage lights reflecting off their raincoats. (01:27:10)

Continuity mistake: As they leave the USO show the Green Beret security guard gets into the helicopter before Bill Graham. In the next shot he gets in again. (01:10:10)

Other mistake: Soldiers are already crashing the stage as Bill Graham gets the helicopter crew to rev up the engines but the two Green Beret security guards that are watching the girls have quite a delayed reaction and act as if nothings happening at all. (01:09:40)

Continuity mistake: Clean points right at Chef, at the wheel of the boat, as he continues to tell his story and says, "don't do her like that". In the next shot he's not pointing anymore and his right hand is resting in front of his face. (01:12:55)

Continuity mistake: When the bunnies are dancing there's a close up of playmate Sandra Beatty and as a soldier yells, "take it off" it's raining. In the next shot it's not. (01:09:10)

Continuity mistake: As the people on the Vietnamese sampan hand their papers over to Chef, Clean is holding the 60 caliber machine gun with both hands. In the next shot he's holding the bullets in his left hand. (01:35:35)

Continuity mistake: The next day as the boat leaves the USO show at Hau Phat to continue up the river we see the battered stage from the back of the boat. The boat passes the stage by about 100 feet but in the next shot its back right next to the stage. (01:11:25)

Continuity mistake: Captain Willard reads on uninterrupted from "Commitment and Counterinsurgency" by Colonel Kurtz who says in his report, "if they were committed this war can be won with a fourth of our present force". The weather changes from not raining to raining, back to not raining again between shots. (01:15:40)
