Heartbreak Ridge (1986)

Corrected entry: As the recon platoon is heading toward their "ambush" of Major Powers and 1st platoon, Highway tells Jones to "unsling those rifles, and you're making too much noise." Jones starts to unthread his rifle sling from the buckle in order to remove the sling from his rifle. Anyone familiar with the manual of arms (which includes ANYONE who has ever graduated from USMC basic training) knows that to "unsling" a rifle means to take it off your shoulder (from a slung position) and carry it in your hands, ready to use.

Correction: Not necessarily, I was in the Infantry and we "unslung" and taped our rifles to keep from making too much noise.

Maverick (1994)

Corrected entry: After the incident with the runaway coach, Maverick is walking away and Annabelle trips or pretends to trip and falls against his leg. When she does she accidentally fires his holstered pistol. It would be impossible for her to do that as the pistol a single-action revolver, which means she would have to cock the hammer (pulling it up and away from the ground) and THEN pull the trigger, also up and away from the ground.

Correction: No, it is not impossible. Annabelle could have half (or less) cocked the hammer and then let it slide back. Consequently, it could have hit a bullet and caused a shot. This accident happened very often in the "Old West", so often that most revolver-users just loaded five bullets into their revolvers and let the hammer rest on an unloaded chamber. Maverick apparently didn't, but that is not a mistake.

Ocean's Eleven (2001)

Corrected entry: After Danny and Linus attempt to blow the vault door and discover the remote's batteries are dead, Linus makes the comment of, "You lose focus for one minute in this game and someone gets hurt." Danny responds by saying, "I don't hear Yen complaining." Danny's comment only makes sense if he already knows that, had the remote's batteries worked properly, Yen would have been hurt or killed in the explosion since his bandage was snagged and he couldn't get away from the vault door. He couldn't possibly know Yen's hand was stuck when he made that comment - if he did he never would have attempted to blow the door in the first place.

Correction: Danny's comment is a reference to the incident earlier in the movie when Linus "lost focus" and, as a result, Yen's hand was smashed. At that point he said the line to Linus "If you lose focus for one minute, someone will get hurt". He's implying that although he did lose focus here, Yen wasn't hurt this time.
