Clue (1985)

Question: Who threw the evidence in the fireplace?

Answer: It depends on which ending you subscribe to. It could have been Scarlet to hide evidence of her brothel. It could have been Mustard to hide evidence of his affair with Yvette. Or it could have been White who wanted to destroy pictures of Yvette "in flagrante delicto" with other men (reminding her of her husband's infidelity).

Question: Just before Todd Anderson has his emotional breakdown about Neil's death, one of his friends grabs a handful of snow and shoves it at his mouth. Why did he do that? It makes no sense.

Matty Blast

Chosen answer: He is just trying to get something to help wash the taste of vomit out of Todd's mouth.

Answer: Due to his scheduling on Family Ties, Michael J. Fox was not originally available, so they went with their second choice of Eric Stoltz. The studio, however, permitted Fox to film the movie only if it didn't interfere with his obligations to them. So, he filmed Back to the Future at night and on days he wasn't needed at the Family Ties set.

Speed (1994)

Question: How many people were on the bus throughout the movie (counting Jack, Annie, Sam, & Helen)?

Answer: There appears to be 20. On IMDb, some have character names and others are listed as "bus passenger".

Question: Is this supposed to be the same Lestat as the character in Interview With The Vampire? If so, is it just me or does it not follow? At the start of Queen of the Damned he is only just waking up and seems fine. Yet at the end of Interview With The Vampire he's attacking the interviewer guy. I don't get it.

Answer: This movie is a very loose adaptation of the Anne Rice novel to begin with, so it is safe to assume the director took certain liberties with the characters. The plot lines are not meant to be interconnecting, or even related for that matter. Consider "Smallville" vs. the original Superman stories, or "Sum of All Fears" starring Ben Affleck vs. the other Jack Ryan movies starring Harrison Ford.

The Lion King (1994)

Question: Is there a naked couple when Mufasa dies and Simba creates a cloud of dust?

Answer: No, but there is speculation about the cloud of dust/pollen that Simba kicks up when he flops down on the edge of a cliff (mid-movie, after Simba is grown). Some say they see letters that spell S-E-X, but Disney says it was S-F-X, in tribute to the special effects team.

Adding to this, It is only on the original VHS tapes. They edited it for DVD release.

Question: What is the brand and make of truck which Marty gets at the end of the film?

Answer: It appears to be the same truck as the first movie. If so, it would be a 1986 Toyota SR5 4x4 with aftermarket wheels, bumpers and roll bar.

Macalou

Chosen answer: It only took me a couple of seconds to find a fan site with a credible answer. Apparently, in an early draft, Marty mentions in passing that Doc hired him to clean out his garage for fifty bucks and total access to his record collection. This scene was presumably never shot, thus the backstory was lost to time. See www.kristensheley.com/bttf/bttfuniverse.html for more extensive info.

Question: At the beginning of the movie, the brother is a loser who works at Burger King. At the end, he wears a suit and work at an office. As a presumably successful business man, wouldn't he have moved out of his parents' house?

Answer: Who says he didn't? Perhaps he lives close enough to come over for breakfast each morning. There isn't enough information in the scene to show that he still lives there; he is simply sitting at the table.

Macalou

Answer: I think that both of Marty's siblings live at the house. This theory comes from Dave remarking that somebody named Greg or Craig called for his sister. If he had his own house, he wouldn't have got that call, and it wouldn't go to George and Lorraine's house either.

Answer: Even though the brother now has a steady career and would normally have his own place, this is a movie-plot device using a "suspension of disbelief." The audience needs to be able to see Marty's reaction and surprise as to how every McFly family member has changed for the better. We just accept the premise.

raywest

Answer: If we presume he's living at home, wearing a suit to an office job doesn't really reflect on his success or wealth, and he's still just 21 or 22 years old. He may still be in college and just working on the weekend and living at home to save money.

Bishop73

Is there a source for his age? I always wondered if he wasn't closer to being around 28.

In the novelization of the film, he is said to be 21. In a first draft version of part 2, where Marty travels to 1967, Dave is 5 years old.

The Alamo (2004)

Question: Can anyone tell me if Santa Anna really ran away from Houston's forces as it shows in the movie? And was that battle really over in 18 minutes? (Not being an American or a Texan for that matter, I have very little knowledge about what happened at the Alamo, I'm just curious).

Answer: Yes, the battle of San Jacinto really did last 18 minutes. Houston's army surprised the Mexican army while they were taking an afternoon nap.

Answer: The defenders of the Alamo held off Santa Anna's troops for 13 days before a final assault on 6 March 1836, where the complex was stormed just before dawn. The battle ended by sunrise. Santa Anna was captured at the Battle of San Jacinto in April of the same year, and Texas won its independence from Mexico. Also check www.thealamo.org for detailed information and links.

Macalou

Answer: In a way. Santa Anna tried to pass himself off as a common soldier, but when he was captured, his men spilled the beans by calling him by his title.

Quantum Leap (1989)

Answer: Yes. He can only leap within his own lifetime (per the 'rules' of quantum time travel). This episode was an exception, as an anamoly allowed him to make the jump into the life of a distant, but genetic, relative.

Question: This is sort of a question for the three movies, I just don't know where to put it...In the first movie, Emma Watson's (Hermione) hair is very thick and bushy, where as in the next two movies, her hair is a bit more straight and neat. In the first movie, was that her real hair, or did she have hair extensions or something?

Answer: It has always been her natural hair, she just seemed to 'grow' into it. It has also been styled differently in each subsequent movie, presumably for the maturity of the character.

Scary Movie 3 (2003)

Question: The Joke about the sheriff's hat getting bigger - is it from a film or any other source?

Hamster

Chosen answer: This is a spoof of a scene in the movie Signs by M. Night Shyamalan.

Question: I was wondering if "the mile" in the song "Redeemer" was in reference to the "mile" that death row inmates walk, if so, how would late 17th century citizens come to call it that if it is in fact a fairly recent phrase? Did current wardens pick it up from the 1600's?

Answer: After listening and double checking lyrics websites, there are nothing in this song about "the mile". Even if there was, there would be no reason to make this reference because this movie is not about death row or prisons. Besides, this song was written specifically for the film in 2002, not in the 17th century, so any references would be modern.

Macalou

Question: A lot of people in this film sing the song "Danke Shoen." Why do they do this?

Answer: It is a song that easily gets stuck in one's head after hearing it; it's more or less used as a comic effect for this reason. Ferris sings it twice (once in the shower and again in the parade), Mr. Rooney hums it at Ferris' house, and Jeannie sings it when leaving the police station.

Question: Near the end of the film, when Sarah dies, where did all the blood come from? Did she hit her head when she fell after the demon was driven out? If so, why did it take so long to start gushing?

wizard_of_gore

Chosen answer: Yes. It may have taken so long because the blood was probably pooling at the back of her head, which caused her to pass out, then finally built up enough pressure to gush out of the cut or fracture at the back of her head.

We Were Soldiers (2002)

Question: The early versions of the M16 had severe problems with jamming. There may have been several causes; instructions issued that the rifle was "self-cleaning", improper ammunition design, improper magazine design (therefore in a later stage 18 rounds instead of 20 were used in the mag). It is not necessarily a mistake, certainly not by the filmmaker, but there are several writers mentioning serious casualties amongst fighting troops specifically because of jamming M16 rifles. Why does this book/film not even include a hint of that problem which surely must have existed at that time and place?

Airborne Ranger

Chosen answer: There is no definitive information on this topic, and although factually accurate, a technical problem with a weapon was probably not enough to build an entire sub-plot, and would not hold the interest of the moviegoer. There were enough casualties without having to take into consideration weapon malfunction.

Macalou

Answer: The M16's used in this battle were second generation M16A1's easily distinguished by the forward bolt assist on the right hand side of the rifle. The original M16 had no bolt assist and the jamming was caused by a different propellant that made the weapon very dirty.

Bean (1997)

Question: What is the music that plays in the credits? The lyrics go something like "see the way he walks down the street...see the way he shuffles his feet...how he holds his head up high...he's my guy.

Answer: It's "He's a Rebel" by Alisha's Attic.
