Continuity mistake: When Kurt and Markie are racing together in the Ice Leg, if you look closely at the part when Markie is about to crash into chunks of ice, Kurt's car has no graphics, and a lighter green windscreen.

Continuity mistake: At the start of the film, when Kadeem is about to get his Krazy 8's car, if you look on the wing (spoiler) you can see "TEAM LEADER" written on it. This is before Tezla announced the Team Leaders after the Volcano Leg.

Other mistake: During the scene at the beginning of the movie where Taro Kitano and Vert Wheeler are racing around the desert, as Taro slides around the corner, his front wheel clips through his fender. (00:06:59)

Trivia: Early in the movie, the race team leaders meet up at Tezla's Cube. This place is called the Handler Proving Ground. It is named after Elliot Handler, the person who first produced Hot Wheels in 1968.
