Factual error: Waco Johnny Dean played by Dan Duryea grabs a pistol from a bystander and then gets shot multiple times by Jimmy Stewart. As Waco goes down he fires several rapid fire shots from a double action revolver. Not likely given the time period some time after the civil war.
Winchester '73 (1950)
Directed by: Anthony Mann
Starring: James Stewart, Shelley Winters, Dan Duryea, Stephen McNally
Genres: Western
Continuity mistake: During the battle with the Indians we see two braves that get killed, both wear distinct costumes that only they have - one brave wears a simple costume consisting of just a breechcloth and single feather. Both braves get shot in the heart and fall off their horses and die at the same time. We then see these same two braves die repeatedly throughout the battle, just filmed from different angles. When the Indians ride off there are only two bodies that match these braves' costumes on the ground.
Lola Manners: You never know when a girl might need a bullet.
Joe Lamont: Indian smoke always means the same thing... trouble.
Opening title card: This is the story of the Winchester Rifle Model 1873, "The gun that won the West." To cowman, outlaw, peace officer or soldier, the Winchester '73 was a treasured possession. An Indian would sell his soul to own one.
