BlackBerry

Factual error: In the film, Blackberry is shown being "raided" by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). As a Canadian company with its headquarters in Canada, the SEC, by itself, has no jurisdiction to effectuate such a raid on the premises. In real life, the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) brought the case against Blackberry co-CEO, Jim Balsillie.

Deliberate mistake: While the events depicted in the film take place over nearly a decade and a half, the characters are not shown as having aged at all throughout the film, apart from Mike Lazaridis. In fact, characters are seen wearing the same clothes and the same ties between scenes that are set years apart.

Jim: Stan, come on. You owe me. You've sold a lot of minutes because of us.
Stan Sigman: Yeah, but you knowwhat the problem with selling minutes is?
Jim: What?
Stan Sigman: There's only one minute in a minute.

Jim: Mike, are you familiar with the saying "perfect is the enemy of good"?

Jim: Let me tell you the best advice I ever got at Harvard. You want to be great, you need to sacrifice. The more painful the sacrifice, the greater you'll be.
