Other mistake: Throughout the movie, Nick Nolte and Barbra Streisand take cab rides. There are thousands of cabbies in NYC, so how come they always get in a cab with the same license plate?
The Prince of Tides (1991)
Directed by: Barbra Streisand
Starring: Nick Nolte, Barbra Streisand, Blythe Danner, Kate Nelligan
Continuity mistake: When the kid is playing his violin in the train station, his case at first (shot from a high angle) is about three feet away from him and then when the shot is close the case is right next to him.
Continuity mistake: When Tom is in Lowenstein's office, he picks up a nic-nac from a shelf - a small head - and he goes to put it back, but he doesn't, and then, suddenly, he has his hands in his pockets, and the head just reappears on the shelf without him putting it back.
Trivia: Jason Gould, who plays Bernard Woodruff, is Barbra Streisand's real-life son.
Trivia: Kate Nelligan played Nick Nolte's mother, but she is actually 9 years younger than he is.
Tom Wingo: Let's face it, Lowenstein. Women are more devious than men. You're great at hiding things. You keep secrets. You smile when you lie. You expect a man to be a tower of strength. When he's got a few weaknesses and insecurities, what do you do? You turn around, and goddamn it, you betray him.
Susan Lowenstein: Just admit it. You love her more.
Tom Wingo: No. Not more, Lowenstein. Only longer.
Susan Lowenstein: I've gotta find me a nice Jewish boy. You guys are killing me.
