Body of Lies

Factual error: When Leonardo DiCaprio is arriving on the tarmac at what is supposed to be Abu Dhabi, the main (and very distinctive) Dulles airport terminal is visible in the background.

Factual error: Hoffman arrives in what is supposed to be the Amman airport via private jet to help with the safe return of Aisha. Dulles international Airport garages and area construction can be seen in the background. (01:40:40)

Deliberate mistake: The helicopter camera shot of buildings under construction in Dubai plays backwards, to achieve a better effect. It's given away by the traffic on the ground traveling backwards, trucks make this particularly obvious.

Factual error: In the first scenes, when US Soldiers are attacked, the EOTech Aiming Device on one soldiers Rifle is mounted backward, e.g. looking towards the soldier, not the enemy.

Factual error: When calling for support in Balad, Ferris' partner gave the coordinates in latitude and longitude. The U.S. military only uses and recognizes MGRS (Military Grid Reference System) coordinates. Instead of "North 34 degrees, 20 minutes, 16.8 seconds; East 44 degrees, 24 minutes, 14.4 seconds", the quote should have been "38S MC 45179 99794". (00:19:30)

Factual error: In the first scenes of the movie, when the SWAT team raids the house of terror suspects in the UK, the tactical team waits to move in until a passenger train passes by the neighborhood. The train is an Amtrak train and not the type of passenger train that runs in the United Kingdom.

Continuity mistake: When Omar Sadiki is escaping from agent Ferris, a cream Cherokee chases him and a black Kia SUV tries to intercept him as well. This black Kia takes a shot that completely shatters the windshield, but seconds later it crashes and the copilot is expelled through an undamaged windshield.

Trivia: The Noordermarkt scene in Amsterdam was not really shot there. In fact it wasn't shot in the Netherlands at all. The Noordermarkt in the film looks nothing like the real Noordermarkt, and more like an Asian or Indian market. The noise of people talking in the background does not resemble anything close to Dutch. The cars in the scene are rarely seen in the Netherland because they are too outdated to be seen frequently, especially all together. At timecode 42:30 you can see a police car with "POLICE" written on the side of it. However, in real life, Dutch police cars do not use the English word for police. "Politie" would have been the correct word, but even then the police car would not be convincing, as official police cars look entirely different. Finally, the firetruck appearing later in the scene is not a type used in the Netherlands, but appears to be an American Pierce Lance truck with Dutch fire engine stickers on it. Dutch firetrucks are usually of European make: DAF, MAN or Mercedes. (00:41:50 - 00:43:30)
