Revealing mistake: In the scene with the malfunctioning juicer, you can see the actor who plays Billy is about to laugh right before all the juice explodes out of the machine. As that is happening, you can see he has broken out into a full laugh. True, he might be showing some mirth over another one of his father's malfunctioning inventions, but he was about to break out into laughter before anything happens, and his laughter is inconsistent with his frustrated demeanor when Pete walks into the kitchen. Continuity mistake: Both the scene of Billy, Pete, and the science teacher looking at the gremlin cocoon, and later when Pete is in class watching the science film, occur on the same day, yet Pete is wearing different clothes.
Randall Peltzer: Well, that's the story. So if your air conditioner goes on the fritz. Or your washing machine blows up. Or your video recorder conks out; before you call the repairman, turn on all the lights, check all the closets and cupboards, look under all the beds. Cause you never can tell. There just might be a gremlin in your house.
Trivia: At the beginning of the film, when Billy is late for work, you see two films playing at the movie theater: "A Boy's Life" and "Watch the Skies." The former was the original title for "E.T." and the latter was the original title for a proposed sequel to "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Two films directed by executive producer Steven Spielberg. (00:08:30)
