Jaws 3-D

Continuity mistake: When Mike is in the water doing the welding on the tunnel patch he is wearing a full face mask with the rebreather attached at middle, but when he and Kay are swimming away and go into the door back to the control room after being chased by Jaws, he is wearing just a regular snorkel mask with the rebreather in his mouth.

Continuity mistake: The small shark shrinks a lot when it's brought into the enclosure. If it were its original size, it would have stuck halfway out of the tank.

Factual error: Although continually referred to by the workers at the park as "he, " the captive killer whale kept there is obviously female. You can tell by the shape and size of the fin.

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie with the scene of the water skiers, the amount of boats on the water goes from hardly any, to suddenly being loads. (00:02:35 - 00:03:40)

Trivia: As originally envisioned, this film was going to be a parody titled "Jaws 3, People 0," as it was felt that a third film wouldn't necessarily work. The producers of the first two films brought in writers from National Lampoon to write the script and it almost went into production, but the studio shut them down at the last minute. "Jaws" producer David Brown maintained till his death that "Jaws 3, People 0" would have been much more interesting and entertaining than "Jaws 3-D" turned out to be.

Question: I know that this was the only movie directed by Joe Alves. Did Alves decide to never direct any movie again due to Jaws 3's failure?

Answer: You are correct that he never directed another movie because Jaws 3-D underperformed financially and was a critical failure. Alves' directing style was particularly panned. As a further humiliation, Alves was nominated as 'worst director' for the 1983 Golden Raspberry Awards.
