Trivia: The film's plot is partially based on real-life Hollywood actress Gene Tierney. In 1943, while volunteering at the Hollywood Canteen, Tierney contracted rubella (German measles) while pregnant. An infected fan had sneaked out of quarantine to see the actress, unintentionally giving her the disease. Tierney's daughter was born with severe disabilities, including deafness, partial blindness, and developmental delays. This affected Tierney's later mental health struggles.
