Trivia: Director Sam Raimi cast Rachel McAdams in the lead because he loved working with her on "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," but felt her talent was "underutilized" in that film due to the focus primarily being on other characters. He promised himself he'd find a meatier role for her one day, and as soon as he got the script for "Send Help," he realised it would be perfect. He and the producers felt McAdams playing a villain would shock audiences, as she usually played nice characters.
