Continuity mistake: The story takes place in 1901 and Rose is still shown as a toddler. She would have been a teenager by then.

Suggested correction: That comment would be accurate if it did take place in 1901, but it did not. The final season (Season 9) took place between 1887 and 1890 and, if you notice, the Carter boys are roughly the same ages in this film that they were in the series. In 1901, both boys would be adults by now (most likely in their early 20s), the same as Rose being a teenager - but it was not 1901, but around 1890 in the film.
Jason Carter: Pa, there is something you could do.
John Carter: Name it.
Jason Carter: Well, I'd sure like it if you and Ma could make a younger child. Then it wouldn't be so bad if I have someone to pick on.
John Carter: Well Son, I'm gonna have to talk to your Ma about that.
Question: Charles and Caroline are shown living alone in their house in Iowa. Although now in 1890 and presuming 20-year-old Carrie is on her own somewhere (college, married, etc.), Grace would only be 13 and should still be living with them but is not seen and never mentioned, as if she never existed. All other daughters were living with them at 13, so what happened to Grace?
