Continuity mistake: Avery asks her mum permission to go to a party. She replies in the end "Well, I said no" just as the dad arrives. The hair on her shoulder/upper arm changes position between shots. (00:02:40)
Continuity mistake: Avery's friend tells her about her mom bedding the divorce lawyer. Next shot, and Avery does her big girl reply with her hand on her forehead, which she did not have earlier. (00:08:20)
Continuity mistake: When Sarah offers her husband a glass of wine, she is holding her own glass with her fingers pointing up or level depending on the shot. (00:09:20)
Continuity mistake: Nicole Kidman is tackled by two criminals at the garage door; they are inches away from her, but somehow she manages to hop on the car and start it before the bad guys show up. (00:12:25)
Continuity mistake: After the intermission showing Avery at the party, the movie shows the villains throwing to the ground Nicole Kidman. Look at the guy with Nicolas Cage; he has the gun pointed at his head already when he says "On your f*cking knees", but pointed away from him in the next shot saying "Face down." (00:13:15)
Continuity mistake: The bad guys put Kyle and Sarah Miller on the ground in the hallway; hilariously enough, Nicolas Cage reaching for Nicole Kidman's hand grabs by mistake together with her hand also part of her hair pulling it. It's gone in the next shot. (00:13:20)
Continuity mistake: A bad guy is about to give Kyle's wife more than a patdown to look for her cell phone, and Kyle goes nuts. He is easily overpowered, though. During this sequence, the hands of the home invader keep changing position on the prone Nicholas Cage. (00:14:20)
Continuity mistake: When the robber asks Kyle the code for the alarm system on the ground just past the entrance, Nicole Kidman is holding Nicolas Cage's hand in a different spot in the various shots. (00:14:50)
Character mistake: The alarm system has two codes; one (7466) that works properly and the other one (7465) that appears legit but would call the cops as well. Sarah is supposed to give the legit code, but before being cut off she says "774..." That would have not been a valid code. (00:15:20)
Character mistake: When the robber taunts Kyle, and he tells him that he does not hear the cops and the alarm...he's kinda not getting the point of the 'fake' code that Kyle was trying to use. The alarm was not gonna make any sound, it was going to be a silent one. And he knows that. (00:15:55)
Continuity mistake: Avery is with the junkie rich guy who set up some coke on the table. The rolled-up note and the dollars by the border of the table change position at the cut. (00:16:50)
Continuity mistake: When Kyle tells the silly robber boss "In your hands, they go back to being nothing but rocks", Ben Mendelson is scratching his head, which he was not in the previous shot. (00:21:50)
Continuity mistake: In the reaction shot to the "Everybody wins and everybody lives" line when Kyle offers to cut the diamonds, Nicole Kidman lacks the long bangs that she is sporting in the rest of the scene. (00:22:30)
Continuity mistake: In the first flashback when Sarah recognizes the youngest guy in the gang, her hair is parted differently over her shoulder in close-ups. (00:23:25)
Continuity mistake: When Elias drags Sarah in front of Kyle telling him to open the safe, the gun changes position against Nicole Kidman's head multiple times. Even accounting some deliberate discontinuities/skips in the action, in normal shot/reverse shot switching you can see her hair being over the gun and suddenly disappearing at the cut. (00:24:30)
Factual error: When Elias shows Kyle the syringe full of succinylcholine, the liquid is brown. Succinylcholine is colorless. He also describes it as something that will basically get them high, which is not what the substance does (although that part may be deliberate deception - even if he does not hide at all the fact that an OD would kill them, so the purpose of such deception is unclear). Continuity mistake: The younger brother threatens the big guy saying "If you touch her I will f**king kill you." The guy's knife is against the right half of Nicole Kidman's neck, while it's past the mid point in the shots before and after. Her hair is also changing position, look at the big curl on the last shot. (00:28:50)
Revealing mistake: The gang is starting to argue as they are running behind schedule. The big guy is holding Nicole Kidman at knife-point. The camera zooms in on her breathing heavily...so heavily that the 'metal' blade of the knife bends up and down. (00:29:00)
Continuity mistake: In Jonah Collins' flashback after he punches the locker, Nicole Kidman's hair moves from behind to the front of her shoulder when he asks her if she designed the place herself. (00:30:20)
Continuity mistake: Kyle is reaching for his glasses on the floor with a sweat-stained shirt in the first shot. The glasses change position on the floor (look at the lines between the tiles) and the sleeve dried up. (00:31:40)
