Other mistake: The unnamed dog of Walter's that survives the plane crash remains looking very healthy, even after a scuffle with a wild cougar, on very little available food and no veterinary attention.

Answer: The dog did not die, at least not in the film. After Ben and Alex are released from the hospital, Ben took the dog with him.
