Plot hole: When it's learned that Jonah has taken a flight to New York by himself, the panicked adults never think to contact United Airlines, the New York Police Department, port authorities, airport security, the taxi companies, or the Empire State Building staff to alert them that an unaccompanied minor child is headed their way. Instead, Sam hops on the next flight to NYC to search for Jonah by himself. Considering the many hours Jonah waits on the Empire observation deck alone, it is apparent that none of the above knew he was there.

Continuity mistake: The bearded man sitting next to Jonah, on the flight to New York, is also seen sitting two seats away from Sam when he flies to New York chasing Jonah. The same guy is on two different planes at the same time.
Annie Reed: Now that was when people knew how to be in love. They knew it! Time, distance... nothing could separate them because they knew. It was right. It was real. It was.
Becky: A movie! That's your problem! You don't want to be in love. You want to be in love in a movie.
Trivia: In the part of the movie that begins with Valentine's Day, there's a shot of a store with a heart (and other Valentine's decorations) in the window. Pasted on the heart is a black silhouette of a man and woman looking into each other's eyes. If you look closely, you'll notice the silhouette is of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
