Continuity mistake: When Harold Ramis is fighting Bill Murray to try to keep him from leaving the base, notice when Harold is on top of Bill choking him, there is a duffel bag under Bill's head, and in the cut-aways the bag is a few feet away. (00:47:00 - 00:47:45)
Continuity mistake: The two Lamborghini women get stopped by police. The one in the red suit is on the right, with her front zipper up. In the next shot the other race contestants zoom on by, and the two women are shown from behind. In the next front shot, her zipper is down. The next shot from behind, show more race contestants zooming by. The next front shot, her zipper is up again, then she pulls it down to pull out her driver's license for the officer.
Continuity mistake: Watch kid drive Norman's power boat. He is at the steering wheel, and appears at the left and right side of the boat in the same scene.
Continuity mistake: The level of liquid in the doctor's beer mug changes noticeably between shots; the mug fills itself up again just before he leaves the pub. (00:47:10)
Continuity mistake: When Jenny arrives at Oliver's parents' home, her hair is stringy and separated, but when she walks through the front door, it is brushed.
Continuity mistake: In the beginning scene, the ruler of Argos is condemning his daughter and son to the sea with a group of guards present at the shore. While he is giving his speech, there is a brief moment when the whole group can be seen getting drenched by a wave crashing ashore, but in the very next moment of his speech - even up to the daughter's cast off - no one is wet.
Continuity mistake: When John Reed is eating dinner with his wife in their cottage, in one shot he is reaching for a piece of bread. The next shot he's missing the bread and the following shot has him reaching for it again.
Continuity mistake: In the final scene of the movie, on the highway, Cora (Jessica Lange) is ejected from the car Frank (Jack Nicholson) is driving, hits the ground, dies instantly after the impact, and rolls over to the shoulder of the road. Weeping, Frank kneels by her side and holds her motionless right hand with his right hand, which, of course, has no wedding ring (They had just been married.) The next and last close-up shot shows he's holding her right hand with his LEFT HAND, the wide gold wedding ring appearing now in full sight. (01:59:33)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Linda is in the car with Bitterman, she says, "Oh, here comes Mrs. Nezbeth..." While she is saying that in that shot, she turns around and looks out the rear window of the car. In the next couple of shots, outside of the car, Mrs. Nezbeth is coming from the opposite direction Linda looked.
Continuity mistake: When Charlotte Taylor Wilson arrives by stage, Don Esteban is making a speech. Behind him is a shield over the gateway. In most shots, the shield is in full sun. But in a couple, it's partially in the shade of some trees.
Continuity mistake: About half way through the movie, the three main characters are in a loft. When the Asian girl grabs the postal worker's jacket, a cassette tape falls out of his pocket. As the girl bends down to pick up the tape, the camera shows here reaching with one hand, and then the camera switches to a close-up of her picking up the tape with the opposite hand.
Continuity mistake: Set in the 1930s, Steve Martin is teaching a class of grade-schoolers in one scene. This would only be picked up by Canadians, but one of the many flags on the wall is the new (as of 1965) Canadian Flag - Red Maple Leaf with two red panels on either edge.
Continuity mistake: Towards the end of the film when Gregory and Susan are "dancing" in the country park, the amount of day light changes between scenes from dark to daylight to dusk.
Continuity mistake: When Jeremy Irons goes out on the breakwater to talk to Meryl Streep his umbrella is in his right hand. When the scene shifts his umbrella is in his left hand. (00:01:00 - 00:04:00)
Continuity mistake: When Megan meets with Teresa in the park, Megan says "It's 1981", but when Gallagher later buys a cashier's check at a bank, the date is 1980. (00:54:00 - 01:08:00)
Continuity mistake: When the protagonists get in the office to talk to his client at the beginning of the movie, he's holding the bag one way outside the door, the other way around when he walks in.
