Continuity mistake: When Monk is talking to Daniel on the radio, in the shots from inside the truck, Krystal is standing next to the open door, to Monk's left when he turns to face her. In the shots from outside the truck, Krystal is now away from the door and to Monk's right.

Revealing mistake: When we see a shot of Steve in his car while in the dump truck, it's shot in a studio and the shot is reused each time we see Steve in the car. The shadow is completely different and at one point, when they show Steve in the car with the car and truck bouncing around, you can tell the image is just shaken, rather than the dump truck actually bouncing. There are loose chains hanging off the inside walls that don't move or sway at all.

Continuity mistake: In Dalton's antique store, in the close of the forged map, the "sold" tag is covering part of the state names (mainly the West in West Virginia) and part of the picture. In the wide shot, the tag is now in the corner and not covering anything.

Continuity mistake: When Monk and Natalie are getting out of their car at Max Hudson's house, there is a woman on the sidewalk walking past the house. Continuity mistake: When Natalie is noticing Monk's nickname on his registration form, you can see a female extra with black hair, a gray outfit and a purse on her left shoulder walk past Natalie on the left side of the screen. Twenty seconds later, as Natalie is turning and preparing to walk away, the exact same female extra walks past her again, again going in the same direction. Also, in the same shot, you see a male extra with a satchel over his shoulder walk past the camera as Natalie is pulling the form from her purse, and he briefly and instantly reappears walking past Natalie again at the point where she grins and says, "I don't know!" for the second time. I know, I talked to him about it every day!" you can see that Monk has his right arm down by his side. But when the camera changes angle to Natalie replying,"Well, Kendra, we were there. Revealing mistake: When Reese opens fire on Adrian, Jack and Natalie at his house, in a shot from Reese's perspective, the squibs from bullet hits on the ground appear to be below the barrel's trajectory. The bullets should be hitting the ground closer to his targets' feet.

Continuity mistake: During the brunch scene with Natalie's parents, the rolls in the bread bowl change position several times. In some shots, there are four, in others, there are five. Continuity mistake: Series 8, episode 16: When the nurse enters, four pill cups are placed orderly, but in the next shot the cups are arranged messily before the nurse touches them. (00:19:10)
Continuity mistake: The shots don't match when Monk gets out of bed to go out and confront the UFO enthusiasts. The position of the bed covers changes noticeably between the close-up and the wider shot. (00:36:20)
Answer: Stottlemeyer was already upset after the phone call. He was trying to get "Kevin" (who would have to be a judge, but no further character information is given) to issue a restraining order with no evidence of needing one, except that Adrian Monk said she needs one. Kevin said he would need to "sleep on it." So it's clear they've been trying to provide protection and unable to get the results they need, which seems to be based on no one trusting Monk the way Stottlemeyer does. He's just angry that they failed to protect Linda despite all their work. Although it does feel like a scene was cut, or altered, from the show that shows the futile attempts to protect Linda which built up to his outrage.
