Stargate SG-1 (1997)

Descent - S6-E3

Corrected entry: When Jack says the line "I'm looking at some major shrinkage here" you can see Amanda Tapping trying not to laugh. That's because this line was probably ad-libbed and he was talking about his genitalia.

Correction: I don't see how this is trivia worthy. Across the entire series, Jack often makes jokes of a risque or foolish nature and Sam's reactions run from stifling laughter to rolling her eyes at him.

Casino Royale (2006)

Corrected entry: On the side of the fuel truck that the terrorist is going to use to blow up the plane there's a label: JP4 .Commercial aircraft don't use JP4, they use JP5 or jet A. JP4 is used in military aircraft.

Correction: The US military stopped using JP4 in 1996. Since commercial jetliners today use a fuel known as Jet A, it doesn't really matter what's painted on the truck as it will contain Jet A, the correct fuel.

X-Men 2 (2003)

Corrected entry: If Kurt didn't know who he was before he attacked the President, how did he know he did the angelic symbols himself?

Correction: The drug that Stryker used on him only caused short-term memory loss. He made the symbols before Stryker got hold of him.

X-Men 3 (2006)

Corrected entry: When Shadowkat meets Leech in the complex, she can't phase through the wall to escape because being near Leech negates her mutant powers. When Juggernaut enters the same room, he is unable to break through the wall for the same reason, however Juggernaut technically isn't a mutant, his abilities were received through mysticism so his powers shouldn't have been affected.

Correction: Inapplicable comic book mistake. In the movie, Juggernaut IS a mutant.

Corrected entry: In the scene in the barn, towards the end of the film, Alex shoots Jezzie in the heart. The next camera angle is from behind Jezzie and shows an exit wound between her shoulder blades. Although stood directly in front of her, Alex is firing left handed, and towards the right, so surely the exit wound would be far more likely to be somewhere under Jezzie's right shoulder blade, or even her side?

Correction: It is entirely possible the bullet was deflected off a bone, exiting her back in a different place than expected.

Hellboy (2004)

Corrected entry: After the opening scenes in which the American soldiers have defeated the German troops on the island off the coast of Scotland, there is a still photo of the American troops, Hellboy and Professor Broom in a group shot. In the picture there are at least two black soldiers among the group. Since this took place in 1944, the U.S. Army was very much segregated and there is no way black and white soldiers would have been in the same combat units together, much less on a "secret" mission.

Gary Hahn

Correction: I think it far more likely whoever was in charge of this highly secret and unusual mission would pick the best soldiers he could get, no matter what color.

Aliens (1986)

Corrected entry: In the final rescue of Newt, Ripley wisely uses flamethrower bursts to make sure the small hallways are clear of aliens. However in all other scenes involving the Incinerators they leave a flaming wash behind that continues to burn for a while (ex. the APC rescue). Obviously the director couldn't have Ripley wait around for the wash to die down so the bursts burn clean.

Correction: Flamethrowers use a pressurized liquid that sprays out and ignites. In every other scene, the flamer was sprayed directly ON something (like Frost or the APC). Ripley fires it straight down the tunnel to flush out any hiding aliens, so it has nothing to cling to.

Corrected entry: The waves that bring about changes - consequences of a different evolution - never really alter the human-made structures. The buildings are essentially all there, they are just covered with vegetation. The whole world should be changing along with the rest of the natural world.

Correction: Why? In the original short story, the changes meant a different president was elected and English was spelled differently. It's impossible to predict what could happen differently and the same over millions of years.

The Thing (1982)

Corrected entry: In one snow and ice-filled scene, one of the "icicles" is actually swinging back and forth a little, obviously fake.

Correction: The icicle is hanging off a chunk of partially collapsed roof, making swinging perfectly possible.

Grumpy Scot

Corrected entry: In a number of battle scenes we see red "laser" lines through the air, obviously from some firearm sighting gear. These would never be visible as lines unless the there was considerable dust in the air, you would only get a spot where the laser hit a surface.

Correction: Yes, but bullets are ripping through plaster, and cotton and sheetrock, etc., filling the air with fine dust that makes the lasers visible.

Childhood's End - S1-E6

Corrected entry: After returning from Atlantis base Dr. McKay says he landed the jumper a little outside of the range of the EM-field. At the end of the show, when the field is reactivated, he says he found a way to increased the range of the device by some 50 percent. As the jumper has been landed outside of the area previously covered by the field, he should now be inside it again, however the jumper still is able to start (you can hear the engines coming on-line).

Christoph Galuschka

Correction: There is nothing to suggest the EM field is spherical with the generator at the center. McKay could have enlarged it in a triangular shape with the kids village at one point, leaving the jumper safely outside it.

Virus (1999)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Jamie Lee Curtis and the rest of the gang first encounter the Russian vessel, Jamie reads from a naval archive that the Russian ship has no weapons. Yet, further into the movie, we see a missile room full of tactical missiles.

Correction: The missiles are for launching sensors into the upper atmosphere. All the other weapons, such as grenades, rifles, machine guns, etc, are considered small arms, and would not be listed. Only weapons such as torpedoes, naval guns, etc would be listed among the ships stats.

A Few Good Men (1992)

Corrected entry: At the end, Dawson and Downey were convicted only of "conduct unbecoming a U.S. Marine," a charge they would not have received a Dishonorable Discharge for; they would probably have received a General Discharge, or at worst a Bad Conduct Discharge.

Correction: The discharge is not directly related to the charge. The court-martial decides what type of punishment to hand down. Clearly since Santiago died, they felt the Dishonorable Discharge was warranted.

Navy SEALS (1990)

Corrected entry: Both Curran's and Hawkin's hairstyles are definitely not military regulation - too bulky.

Correction: SEALS are allowed to have "modified grooming standards" in order to look less like soldiers. Some even go so far as to look like long haired tattoed bikers!

Ghosts of Mars (2001)

Corrected entry: The possessed miners seem to have some sophisticated weapons - elaborately made swords and throwing discs, for instance. Where did they get them from? They didn't have time to make anything that elaborate.

Correction: They had several days and lots of machines to build them on. The creatures possessing them are shown with those weapons in the past, so clearly they knew how to build them.

Dawn of the Dead (2004)

Corrected entry: Our hero, recently bitten, is standing on the dock watching his friends sail off into the sunset. His hands are empty, hanging at his sides. Next a shot of the boat, then back to him with a gun in his right hand which he uses to kill himself.

Phillip Churchfield

Correction: Look closely when Michael unties the boat and when he pushes the boat off the dock. The pistol is in the rear waistband of his pants. We just didn't see him reach around and pull it out.

U-571 (2000)

Corrected entry: After the S-33 is torpedoed, Tyler and his men rig the U-571 for dive. Just before Wentz says "Opening midship valves; opening midship vents," someone else - I think it's the Chief - says "Opening ballast tanks." This makes no sense; the ballast tanks are the air tanks - you open them when you want to surface, not when you want to dive. (00:51:30)

Correction: Ballast tanks are opened so they can be filled with water to dive. The water is pumped out making the sub buoyant again to surface.

Grumpy Scot

Correction: Actually the ballast tank vents are what are ordered to open to dive. These are deck level and as air escapes water is drawn in from the always open bottoms of the ballast tanks.

Stripes (1981)

Corrected entry: In the scene where the recruits are sitting/standing around telling their stories to Sgt. Hulka, you can see cigarette smoke rising behind one of the men when no one is smoking or should be smoking.

brantlee

Correction: Recruits were allowed cigarettes in boot camp back then.

Stripes (1981)

Corrected entry: Realistically speaking, if 2 Army Privates had actually stolen a top-secret vehicle and wreaked the havoc that they did, they'd be immediately discharged from the Army and doing hard time in jail - definitely NOT coming home to a hero's welcome like they did.

Correction: Not necessarily, the Army could quite realistically turn something like that into a PR bonanza instead of having the public wonder what kind of organization lets two idiots cause so much trouble. Further, they proved without a doubt the Urban Assault Vehicle concept works perfectly and the officers in charge of that project would feel at least a little favorably towards them.
