Rank Title Mistake
The Sting In the final scene, Kid Twist arrives at the betting parlor, whispering to Lonnegan, "Sorry, I couldn't wait." This furthers the plot as Twist can then inform Lonnegan that the wrong horse is going to win. But it would also blow the entire con because Lonnegan would expect Twist to have been downtown at his Western Union office just four minutes earlier when they talked on the phone.
Orphan In the beginning of the movie, Esther is introduced as a nine-year-old orphan from Russia. If Russian was her native language and she learned English as a second language at the age of nine or younger, she would not have had an accent. Anyone with a college education (especially an educator) would have found that odd and it should have given her away.
The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie When SpongeBob is first shown crying at the Nut Bar, you can only see one row of chairs. When SpongeBob gets up to leave, there is now a corner and another row.
Oliver During "Consider Yourself", watch the meat-cutters - the cleavers they use never cut into the meat, just bounce off harmlessly. Obviously too dangerous to try and use real ones in such a crowded environment.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen In the scene where Major Lennox is being sustained by the Galloway and Master Sergeant Epps says that he's an "Asssshole!", you can see bunch of soldiers and Autobots in the shot. Sunlight is almost in the middle of the shot; the problem is just the body of the soldiers blocks it. If you watch it closely you can see first a soldier with hat blocks sunlight, after that an Autobot should block it but it doesn't. Again a soldier comes from left to right and blocks it and after that an Autobot should have blocked it, but still you can see the sunlight.
Toy Soldiers When the infiltration team is about to enter the school and has snipers take out the two terrorists on the roof, the snipers are using AMAC-1500 .50 calibre rifles. However, one of the terrorists shot lives long enough to pull the pin on a grenade. The issue here is that a man shot in the chest with a .50 can not survive - with those bullets he'd be lucky to not have his corpse torn in half.
She Wore a Yellow Ribbon After running into Indians on his last patrol, Capt. Brittles orders Sgt. Tyree to head south and meet up with <i>the</i> (indicating singular) Paradise River Patrol. He is then to proceed at his best pace to meet up with Capt. Brittles at the stage station. Capt. Brittles states that he will approach the objective from the east. Sgt. Tyree is then shown riding off perpendicular to the unit's line of march. After a brief time lapse, the unit meets up with another patrol of soldiers that once again identifies itself as <i>the</i> Paradise River Patrol. This Paradise River Patrol joins up with the larger body of troops and continues toward the stage station. No sign of Sgt Tyree. Upon arriving at the stage station, Capt. Brittles meets up with Sgt. Tyree and another body of soldiers which is also identified as <i>the</i> Paradise River Patrol.
Courage Under Fire During the rescue scene it looks like Meg Ryan is firing an M16A3 rifle (looks like an A2 but fires full auto). The reason this is a mistake is the first Gulf War ended in 1991 and the M16A3 wasn't fielded until 1994. In 1991 no one had A3s so she couldn't have been firing one.
Moon The robot Gerty that appears throughout the movie has a small shelf on its right hand side (viewers left hand side, robots right hand side) on this shelf sits a dirty coffee cup but all through the movie the cup disappears and reappears several times.
A Cinderella Story When Sam is at Carter's house to give him a lift to school, Carter (in his Snoop Dizzle look) is holding the script in his left hand and the bag's strap falls off his right shoulder when he sits down. Next shot, the script is in his right hand and the strap is back up on his shoulder.
Live Free or Die Hard During the first shoot out, McClane uses a fire extinguisher as a bomb. He uses it on someone who is running up the stairs, unable to know at this point if this is an enemy. For a seasoned cop, this "first shoot, then ask" approach is certainly laughable.
Saw IV When inspecting the couple in the pin trap, Perez says she found out something about the three people in the traps, when it should be four.
Grease 2 During "Reproduction," when the teacher asks if there are any question, Johnny takes out a Playboy magazine and asks, "Yeah, I was wondering if you could tell me where she lives?" Goose follows by saying, "Hey, what is this?" — but he appears to be pointing at her bare bottom, and I presume he already knows what that is.
The Shawshank Redemption When Andy escapes he breaks the sewage pipe and the sewage shoots out of the hole. To shoot out like that it takes a pipe totally filled with sewage and a lot of pressure. However, when Andy looks into the pipe and jumps in, the sewage is completely calm without any current or pressure and the pipe is only half full.
The Longest Day The U.S. Paratrooper uses his "clicker", and the German answers with a "double" click-click -- click-click. The Paratrooper stands up, and the German soldier shoots twice with his Mauser K98 without reloading. That is impossible. After each shot, the Mauser must be reloaded. The Mauser has a capacity of five bullets.
Terminator Salvation At the end, John Conner is offered a heart by Marcus when in no way is that even possible to do.
Varsity Blues In the game after Billy Bob passes out, the defense stops the opposing team and lance runs out onto the field. Billy Bob is already in the huddle. The next cut shows Coach Kilmer telling Billy Bob, who is on the bench taking oxygen, that he "needs him for one more series."
Sense and Sensibility In the scene where Elinor stood looking out of the window of the estate of Mr Palmer, waiting for Brandon to return with Marianne, Mr Palmer handed her a cup of tea and asked her not to worry and assured her that Brandon would find Marianne. Straight after that, Charlotte also poured Elinor a cup of tea and handed it to her. The first cup of tea that Mr Palmer gave Elinor disappeared.
Changeling When the cop shows the killer kid a picture of Walter, the back of the photo keeps changing from wrinkled to straight repeatedly.
This Is England When the leader of the national front is giving his speech, just as it focuses on his glasses you can see a boom microphone reflected in them.
The Flintstones After Fred and Wilma have the fight with Barney and Betty, Wilma starts destroying things in the house. Notice when she is throwing the cups on to the floor. They are orange on the shelf, yet when she throws them on the floor, they turn green.
Where the Wild Things Are When Max is going to get K.W. just prior to the Dirt Clod War, his hood is down. When he returns to Carol and Douglas, (just prior to being hit with a dirt clod) his hood is up.
Couples Retreat During the "nude" scene on the beach, when Shane is asked to drop his drawers, he wears shorts initially, but then in a subsequent shot right before the "reveal", he is wearing pants.
The Bourne Identity (1988) Shooting at a gas tank with buck shot at 50 meters distance will not make it explode (it likely won't even dent the surface), and lead pellets do not cause sparks when they hit.
Zombieland When Tallahassee goes to the supermarket hoping to find a Twinkies, he uses a banjo to lure and kill a zombie. However, in the next shot he is seen using a metal baseball bat, with no sign of dropping the banjo. The banjo is not seen on the floor in any shots after it disappears.
Bride Wars When Emma meets Liv jogging in the park the day after getting engaged, the ground is very wet and has many large puddles. When Liv runs off to her boyfriend's office, the ground is absolutely dry.
Atonement During the long tracking shot at Dunkirk, steadicam operator Peter Robertson had a little assistance in getting around. This took the form of a kind of golf cart (from the beginning to just after shooting the horses), and later a rickshaw (from little after the choir to just before the steps ascending the billets). If you look at the ground to the left just as the camera begins backing away from the carousel, you can see tracks in the sand made by the rickshaw. Keep watching the sand near the actors' feet to see more.
Groundhog Day On Day 2, Phil makes a cup of coffee before leaving the hotel. He carries it out of the hotel in his bare hand. When he comes out of the hotel he has his gloves on.
Alvin and the Chipmunks Dave captures the chipmunks in a pot, but right before the pot touches the counter, the chipmunks are not under the pot. They are not animated in it.
The Dark Knight When Batman jumped and landed on top of the van driven by Scarecrow, the van stopped dead in its tracks. The forward momentum of the van would have kept it moving, even if it were undrivable. The van stopped right when Batman landed on it, so Scarecrow didn't have time to slam on the brakes.
