Continuity mistake: Alex comes to work very hungover. He proceeds to spill coffee on his shirt twice. He then talks with Lisa in his classroom and now the shirt is clean.
Continuity mistake: When Rand is showing the old man his invention, he pulls the toothbrush up, and it is facing away from him. When the shot changes the toothbrush is now facing him. (00:02:30)
Continuity mistake: When Zula is fighting Bombaata, she leaps from the saddle and throws herself on him, knocking his head-circlet off from the impact of collision. In the very next shot, Bombaata's circlet is back on his head as he struggles with Zula.
Continuity mistake: During the second "break fight" against Electro Rock in the club, there is a shot of Turbo wearing a grey windbreaker while Ozone is dancing. In the next shot he is putting the jacket on and when Kelly gets on the floor, the jacket is nowhere in sight.
Continuity mistake: Atreyu rests by a stream and his horse walks over to nuzzle against him. The horse does not have a proper girdle to hold the saddle on. Later, when he's riding across the sandy desert, the horse does have a broad girdle.
Continuity mistake: When Matthew is shaving and Jennifer is distracting him, the cut on his cheek changes position throughout the scene.
Continuity mistake: When Trish's car stops, the licence plate goes from dirty to clean. (00:28:10)
Continuity mistake: In an early scene, the bartender and the bar owner's wife are driving in the rain, at night. The car is a large Ford: at one point, it becomes a mid-sixties Volvo 122, then is shown as a Ford again.
Continuity mistake: All the monitors aboard Discovery-1 are standard CRT screens of 1980s vintage (curved face), yet in "2001", they were all flat screens. and there's been no upgrading between the events of the two films.
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie, Selena drives her car to the right side of the house. When the shot changes, the car is several feet further back and is now heading across the front of the entrance.
Continuity mistake: When Tom Hanks is in the dinghy by himself, the outboard motor has no cover. He falls into the water and the dinghy circles him several times. One of the shots shows the motor with its cover in place. (It is an Evinrude motor). (00:22:15)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Hector is talkin to Samantha and Regina in the radio station, just after they met, Hector is taking off his gloves. Then they switch over to the girls and when they switch back to Hector, his gloves are back on and he starts taking them off again.
Continuity mistake: At the end of the film the hero follows the bad guy into a reservoir. When he gets there, the bad guy has dug a very deep hole in the ground in which he wants to bury the girl. But the bad guy arrived only two minutes or so before the hero and didn't have the time to dig a hole of that size.
Continuity mistake: Just before Melvin has sex with Sarah, Sarah's red dress straps fall down off of her shoulders, yet are back up in the next shot.
Continuity mistake: In one scene, Tom Hanks leaves a room while the last part of "Something Isn't Right" by Oingo Boingo is playing. When he reenters the room, the middle of the song is playing.
Continuity mistake: After the owner of Hansens café is attacked, the children put his hand against a meat slicer and a blood splatter occurs, spraying across onto Job's face. Between shots the pattern of the blood on Job's face changes between shots. (00:04:00)
Continuity mistake: In the extended version of the DVD, there's a scene where Constanza goes to sleep with Salieri. In one shot there's a very prominent candle next to or just behind her on her right that smoking like it's just been extinguished. But from the front view there are no candles that close to her, and the ones a short distance away are all lit.
Continuity mistake: In the shot after Gilbert is dipped and gets soaked in the fountain by the Alpha-Betas, when he is up on the podium, you notice that he is almost dry, only his head is wet. (01:21:25 - 01:23:00)
Continuity mistake: The tree creature pulls Mace's right hand and arm into the tree. Later, after giving Cindel the medicine, an Ewok examines the wound, which has switched to his left hand.
Continuity mistake: When the protagonists are trying to get to the French embassy they pass a VW beetle whose windshield is smashed by a Red Khmer. The camera angle is not very helpful but if you look closely you see that the window is gone already, and the pieces flying over the hood are from the bit of glass that sticks in the frame. (00:56:50)
