Trivia
In the first scene of Burt and Vicky in the car there is a copy of Stephen King's 'Night Shift' on the dashboard of the passenger side. A little homage to King in that the short story 'Children of the Corn' is in this book. See more...
Children of the Corn (1984) - 28 mistakes
Factual error: In the original theatrical trailer, Stephen King's name is misspelled as "Steven."
Continuity: After the owner of Hansens café is attacked, the children put his hand against a blender, and a blood splatter occurs, spraying across onto Job's face. Between shots the pattern of the blood on Job's face changes between shots.
Visible crew/equipment: When the gas station attendant is talking out loud to himself after giving directions to the people, there is a shot of him through a window, in the window you can clearly see a crew member.
Continuity: When Sarah laying in her bed, drawing a picture of everyone standing outside Hansen's Café with knives, between a wide shot and a closeup, as she is colouring it, the drawing noticeably changes.
Continuity: After Burt has been stabbed, he is chased around the town. During the scene, in different shots, the size and shape of the blood stain on Burt's tee-shirt continually changes. In some shots it's small, then large, then smaller again etc.
Continuity: When Amos is saying "I'm ready to celebrate my birthday", priestess is looking at him. After that, Isaac starts yelling and when the shot changes, she is suddenly looking towards Isaac.
Continuity: When Burt and Vicky first enter Gatlin, they pass the building labelled as "Whiting Garage" twice.
Visible crew/equipment: The gas attendant check his garage because he hears a noise. After he has investigated, he walks back over to his red truck. As he walks over, you can see a boom mike moving around, reflected in the red truck's windsheild.
Continuity: At the start of the film when Vicky gives Burt his birthday present, there is a radio on the bedside shelf, to the right of the wall plug fixture. When she turns the radio on in the following shot though, the radio is under the plug fixture.
Continuity: When Vicky gets carried away from the bedroom by the group of children, the sandal on her left foot falls off as she struggles. Later, in the cornfields, as she gets raised onto the large crucifix, the sandal is back on her foot.
Continuity: When Joseph stumbles into the road, Burt hits him with his car. In the initial shot we see that Joseph's body had landed in the middle of the road on a yellow line. In a following shot, his body is now seen to be by the side of the road.
Continuity: The length of the cut on Vicky's cheek changes through the movie.
Revealing: As Vicky and Burt are driving down a dirty lane, through a row of corn, you can see fresh tire tracks in the mud from a previous take.
Continuity: As Joseph is about to run away through the corn field, the shot pans across the corn and it is blowing in the wind. In the very next shot as Job says, "You're not going through the corn are you?" the corn is now totally still.
Continuity: After Sarah takes the needle off of the record player in the bedroom, when Vicky comes over and starts to question her, the record continues to spin to a stop, then in one shot it stops spinning. But in a following shot it is still spinning.
Continuity: When Burt twists the arm of the girl who is giving the church sermon, to hold her still, her black dress strap falls halfway down her arm. In a following shot, before she grabs the knife, it is back up on her shoulder.
Continuity: When Burt and Job are out in the cornfields, trying to set up the hose, Burt tells Job to turn the valve. As Job turns it, his ripped cardigan is hanging from his elbow. In the next shot it's suddenly up on his shoulder.
Continuity: When Joseph stumbles onto the road, Burt brakes to a halt, and swerves. As he swerves, there are tyre tracks on the road, in front of the car, from a previous take. Additionally, the tracks change and (dis)appear.
Continuity: When Burt gets out of the car to go check Joseph's dead body on the road, as he rolls Joseph's body over onto his back, the position of his arm, and the amount of blood on the road changes between shots.
