Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed

Corrected entry: To make monsters, according to the film, you need a costume of that monster. In the scene just before Shaggy and Scooby reach the monster hide, they encounter the Cotton Candy Glob but there is no Cotton Candy Glob costume in the museum.

Correction: Actually, in the long shot of the hall just before the window is broken, you can see him off to the left of the screen.

Corrected entry: In the scene where the gang find the museum broken into for the second time, Velma's hair is straight from when she had her makeover. After that they go to the Mining Factory and her hair is black curled. She could have changed out of her outfit but I doubt she had time to do her hair. (00:43:30)

Correction: When we first see Velma with her new hairdo, it's easy to see that she has her hair pulled to the side and has some sort of extensions in. Therefore, she could have taken her hair out from the sides and removed the extensions in the time given.

Corrected entry: When the pterodactyl is dragging Shaggy and Scooby, Scooby is on the right and Shaggy is on the left. Then when Daphne cuts the rope Scooby flies out on the left and Shaggy on the right.

Correction: Scooby and Shaggy went flying many times, which could have easily caused the rope to twist.

Corrected entry: The electricity from the 10,000 Volt Ghost would kill a person. But Daphne, or anyone else for that matter, is not killed when near it.

Correction: Volts are not deadly - amps are. Van de Graaff generators are electrostatic devices that might produce 200,000 to 400,000 volts depending on the relative humidity. They are safe to touch while operating.

Corrected entry: When the Black Knight and the 10,000 Volt Ghost are attacking both Fred and Daphne, Daphne pulls some jumper cables out from the Mystery Machine however just before they made it to the junkyard they show several scenes of the van's interior with no jumper cables visible. Those cables were huge and would be rather uncomfortable to be sitting on.

Correction: Scooby crashed the van into the doors of the mining company, and we don't see into the van until we see the jumper cables. They were probably shaken out of their storage place in the crash - certainly Daphne was surprised to see them there.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Velma has her dramatic makeover, she can't seem to walk in the shoes and finds it hard to bend when she gets in the Mystery Machine. However when she gets to the museum, she can walk fine and when she re-enters the Mystery Machine, she bends her legs fine.

Correction: She simply got used to walking in the shoes and bending her legs.

Correction: Velma's hair is curled usually. When she is in the tight red suit, Daphne had straightend her hair.

Corrected entry: Many times, The Mystery Gang's clothes change throughout the movie.

Correction: The movie is set over several days.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Heather and Daphne are talking outside the museum, supposedly Ned changes into the costume of the evil masked figure and goes on the roof of the museum. However, when Heather says, "Scoop of the night, gone" you can see Ned in the background pointing the camera to the roof of the museum. You also hear Heather say, "Ned, get your camera and follow me." as she is walking off. Ned can't have got down from the roof and out of the outfit that quick. (00:35:25)

Correction: If you look closely Ned isn't there, there are other camera men around but not Ned. The reason she said "Ned, get your camera and follow me" was to make it seem as if Ned was still there.

Corrected entry: When Velma loses her glasses, wouldn't she be able to identify Patrick by his voice?

Correction: Maybe she did, but she made sure that it was Patrick after she put on her glasses so she wouldn't make any embarassing mistakes.

Revealing mistake: When Velma is running from the two one eyed skeletons she goes into what looks like a warehouse and the floor is all wet and in some places there are puddles. When the skeletons come they step into a puddle but the water doesn't even splash or ripple. (01:11:20)

Question: I just watched this movie on Netflix but there was one minor change; in the DVD version at the beginning of the film when Scooby and Shaggy come out of the limo, Shaggy is holding a cup from Burger King, and later in the movie when they're at Wickles Manor, Shaggy complains about why they can never investigate at a Burger King. However, on the Netflix version, the line and cup were changed to KFC instead. Does anyone know why this would be changed? It seems pretty strange.

Answer: The simple answer is money. Although it has to do with film studios and distribution companies releasing American films to the international markets. Because of technology, studios can digitally alter products in the film and can now sell product placement rights more than once. This practice started with "Demolition Man", where in the US, Taco Bell is the only surviving fast food place. But, overseas, the restaurant is Pizza Hut. In "Scooby Doo 2", Burger King purchased the product placement rights for the film along with "right of first refusal." Burger King then decided to just focus on the U.S. plug. Warner Bros. Was free to sell the plug for the international market release, which KFC bought. So the DVD version was the domestic release version and the Netflix version is the international release. But, I do not have an answer to "why is Netflix showing the international release version?", but I'm sure it has to do with cost of purchasing the rights to stream, unless KFC also bought the product placement rights for streaming in all markets.
