Lennie accidentely kills Curley's wife by breaking her neck, and then runs off to hide in the brush just as George told him to do. Curley and everyone else except George and Candy are hunting Lennie to kill him. George finds Lennie in the brush and kills him before Curley gets to him. The film ends with a shot of George and Lennie walking in the field during their time working before Lennie died.

Continuity mistake: At the start of the film when Lennie and George are drinking at the brush, when they take their hands out of the water the hands are dry.
