House on Haunted Hill

Factual error: As Frederick is explaining to his guests how to use their .45 automatics, he fires one round at a near-by vase, shattering it. However, it leaves no bullet hole in the wall directly behind the vase.

Factual error: After his wife falls into the pit, Frederick casually grabs Dr. Trent's skeleton; the skeleton that only moments earlier had been submerged in acid. His hand should have been badly burned.

Factual error: In reference to the skeleton in the pit, a skeleton with its flesh burned away would have nothing to hold it together. Frederick states it is Dr. Trent's skeleton. For him to run wire through the skeleton would have been impossible in the time he had. He had only a few minutes at best before his wife came down. He'd have had to fish the loose bones out of the pit, wire them all together, attach the whole thing to the puppeteer rig, and put it back in the pit.

Factual error: At the very beginning, while Frederick is telling us about the party, he says, "There will be food and drink and ghosts etc..." Throughout the movie, there isn't a single morsel of food ever seen or offered.

Suggested correction: Around thirteen minutes into the film, when Frederick starts to pour drinks for his guests, you can see a table with food on it behind them. Appears to be sort-of of a small, buffet style selection of hors d'oeuvres, albeit it's out of focus in the background. (It's very easy to miss.)

Continuity mistake: When Annabelle gives Frederick her gun, he places it in the mini-coffin and closes the coffin. However, in one of the next shots, we see that all coffins are open.

Suggested correction: It's not "in one of the next shots" it's actually many shots later, so anyone could have touched that mini coffin for any reason during the time off-screen. After Frederick closes the top of the mini coffin, it cuts to the scene upstairs with Nora and the missing severed head. Then a considerable period of time has passed until we see the mini coffins again, when Lance walks into that room and sees Pritchard with the knife.

Frederick Loren: The caretakers will leave at midnight, locking us in here until they come back in the morning. Once the door is locked, there's no way out. The windows have bars that a jail would be proud of, and the only door to the outside locks like vault. There's no electricity, no phone, no-one within miles, so no way to call for help.
Watson Pritchard: Like a coffin.

Question: (Spoiler alert) If Annabelle and Dr. Trent simply wanted to murder Frederick, what was the point of Dr. Trent attempting to dispose of Frederick's body in the acid? Why the elaborate scheme to have him accidentally killed by someone else if they were going to destroy his body in acid anyway? They could have simply hit him over the head and dumped him in the pit.
