Trivia: According to star Thomas Ian Nicholas, the Richard Donner cut of the film was 4 1/2 hours long and included a lengthy sequence with the frogs being sold to Rhea Perlman. It was shot at least three times and ended up being cut completely from the film. Tom Hanks was also not in the original cut.
Trivia: Elijah Wood turned 10 during production and received presents from director Richard Donner. Because he didn't want him to feel left out, co-star Joseph Mazzello also received gifts.
Trivia: The film was originally intended to be directed by its writer, David Mickey Evans; however, Columbia felt he was too inexperienced, so it was given to Richard Donner. Evans would go on to write and direct The Sandlot. He wrote a novella based on the script for this film, which included many parts originally cut from the film, including the different ending.

Answer: He was in a very small part of the movie and at the time he had already become quite a famous star. If his name were attatched to it without being uncredited, he would have had top billing. He probably decided to remove his name from the movie so the younger actors could receive more attention. The same type of thing happens in quite a few movies I can think of.
