The Royal Tenenbaums

Royal Tenenbaum and his wife Etheline had three child prodigies before they separated - Chas, a real estate trader in his early teens - Richie, a junior champion tennis player and Margot, who received a $50,000 grant for her ninth grade play. Virtually all memory of the brilliance of the young Tenenbaums was subsequently erased by two decades of betrayal, failure and disaster. Most of this was generally considered to be their father's fault.

Continuity mistake: When Richie returns from the hospital and enters Margot's tent you can see a few toy cars by the record player. The next time you see the record player they are gone. The next time they are there. This happens continuously during the scene.

Trivia: Although filmed in New York, director Wes Anderson didn't want to include any of the city's landmarks, particularly its famous skyline. In the scene when Royal and Pagoda meet in the park on the waterfront (Battery Park), Anderson went so far as to place Pagoda so he blocked any view of the Statue of Liberty in the harbor.
