Other mistake: In a prison scene quite early in the film, Patrick Swayze's character is seen playing the 'final move' in a chess game against the warden. As he moves his piece he says, "check mate" but if you look closely and if you have any knowledge of chess you will notice that it is not check mate at all.

Letters from a Killer (1998)
Ending / spoiler
Directed by: David Carson
Starring: Patrick Swayze, Kim Myers, Gia Carides, Olivia Birkelund
Gloria Stevens is the killer. She cuts Lita's finger off and shoots her, then cuts off her own finger and is about to shoot herself (which will frame Patrick Swayze for the murder) but the FBI enters the room. Just when Patrick Swayze is being handcuffed, Lita (who was wearing her vest) pressed the play button on a nearby tape recorder, revealing that she had been recording everything. Gloria is put on death row and Patrick Swayze and Lita get together.
