Factual error: In the scene where Vince returns to his dorm room and finds Dennis Franks has moved in, Franks informs him that Coach Vermil is mixing the veterans with the rookies. In 1976, Dennis Franks and Vince Papale were both rookies.
Factual error: Louis Simo gives his son an Etch-A-Sketch while taking him to school, and later when Louis stops by to see his son at his ex-wife's house, his son is playing with the Etch-A-Sketch in his bedroom. Both incidents take place in the summer of 1959. George Reeves died June 16, 1959, hence the investigation. The first Etch-A-Sketch toys were produced on July 12, 1960 and Ohio Art launched the toy in the United States in time for the 1960 holiday season.
Revealing mistake: The film is set in 1997 the year of Diana's death. However there is a scene in where Tony Blair is being driven in a car and you can see a Mercedes through the rear window with an '02' number plate indicating a 2002 model vehicle.
Deliberate mistake: In the scene where Marie is trying on shoes, a pair of powder blue high top Converse sneakers can be seen next to her feet. It must have been done intentionally, but since there is no trace of modern apparel anywhere else in the film (the closest would be the mere mention of hot pink dress fabric but, as it's not shown, we don't know what exactly Marie calls "hot pink") these shoes (and the fabric) can't be considered part of a thematic element or artistic license. Continuity mistake: When Chris is hit by a car, he has both shoes on after the impact, when he is rolling on the ground. One of them suddenly disappears in the following shot.
Continuity mistake: In the scene at the Christmas party Mr Warne tops up the coffee cup with brandy to give to Miss Wiggins. At this point the cup is full to the brim but when he then carries a tray with this cup on it looks barely full.
Other mistake: In the scene when Hector Lavoe and his wife (Mark Anthony and JLo) are walking down the street in New York, on the right hand of the screen you will see a man taking a picture with his cell phone. The scene is supposed to be based in the 70's.
Continuity mistake: When the Prime Minister is preparing to make his golf swing, his shawl is alternately bunched up and then spread out smoothly.
Factual error: To demonstrate his hatred of the England football team, Paul throws darts at a photograph of the players in their red shirts midway through the competition. However, the photo in question was taken after the final was played. Furthermore, in relation to the film's timescale, when the scene takes place neither the team or the choice of kit had been decided upon.
Factual error: Ron Clark was from Aurora North Carolina. The shot where he is leaving for New York is supposed to be in Aurora, which is in Eastern North Carolina. The shot shows a house with lots of spruce trees around it. We don't have those in Eastern North Carolina.
