Continuity mistake: At the Gator Motel, after Cledus and Bandit get part of the money, when Bandit starts crying about Frog and blows his nose into the money, there is a side shot showing a wad of bills in Bandit's shirt pocket before he actually puts the bills into his pocket in a following shot. Plot hole: After his mother's death, Peter sets a camera up outside her therapist's office, so he can see who goes in and who comes out; he thinks his mother's killer might be one of the doctor's patients - a tall woman with long blonde hair. All he sees is people going in and people coming out, and then he sees her - the tall blonde. Problem: He never saw her going in, only going out, which is critical, because the killer is the therapist - a tall man - wearing a long blonde wig and make-up. Of course no-one says anything about "We never saw her going in, only out, so it must be the therapist!"
Continuity mistake: Gene Wilder's pencil disappears in the classroom scene. (00:33:30)
Factual error: The first thing on screen after the opening credits is the year the film is set in, 1953. How then, do Kim Novak and Tony Curtis make their arrival in a Cadillac convertible, which is quite obviously of 1959 vintage? (00:19:44)
Visible crew/equipment: When Harris and the two Irish men have been killed at the end and the car crashes on top of the other the ramp used to make it fly is visible.
Continuity mistake: When McVicar is going crazy he knocks the food off the table along with this yellow cup, however this reappears on the table again.
Other mistake: Someone in the film discusses being "stabbed with a gun".
Continuity mistake: When Julian Kay is tearing apart his Mercedes to look for the stolen jewels, he is seen pulling some plastic off the driver's door, in the next shot, you can still see the plastic attached to the car door.
Factual error: It is established early in the movie (Natalie's call) that the money ball event celebration is part of the -first - anniversary of the Valley River Center, the shopping mall where most of the movie is set, with the town of Eugene, Oregon, mentioned explicitly. However, the center opened in 1969, and the movie is set in 1980. The original script was written in 1971, so that line needed an update and slipped by.
Continuity mistake: Gus Soltic at the beginning of the movie pours ketchup on the eggs. When he's done, he moves away the bottle in one shot, but it's still vertical above the eggs in the next shot. (00:02:00)
