Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Audio problem: When Natalie is saying "it" in the phrase "I still don't hear it", her voice sounds different than in the rest of the sentence, as it was audibly spliced in two. They used two different takes and combined them. (00:03:45)

Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Continuity mistake: When the victim's niece is crying and Monk is quizzing her about the house, the position of her hands changes instantly several times as the camera reverses angles. She holds her hands to her face as she cries, for instance, but in the very next shot, her hands are down at her sides. Next cut, they're up to her face again. (00:09:00)

Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Continuity mistake: In the hardware store, a bright blue sign in the background reads "Electrical" in reverse. When Jake hands Monk his card a few shots later, the camera angle hasn't changed, but the sign has turned around and now reads "Electrical" forwards. (00:15:00)

Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Plot hole: How come Monk and Natalie didn't think it suspicious that Cassie Drake was killed in her house within less than twelve hours after they had found out she was responsible for killing her patient? Since Jake and Ramone were the only two people they had disclosed their findings to (apart from Stottlemeyer and Disher), they should have focused in on Jake much sooner. (00:24:00 - 00:27:00)

Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Continuity mistake: There are two noticeable continuity errors during the police investigation in Cassie Drake's house. When Stottlemeyer is squatting next to Monk, Monk's right hand instantly changes position between shots. Also notice that there is no sheet over the body at the beginning of the scene, but a few shots later, suddenly the lower part of Cassie's body is covered with a sheet despite no forensic technicians being there to place it. Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Plot hole: Monk and Natalie temporarily incapacitate Jake before crawling all the way down the hall from the bathroom to the living room while pulling a heavy claw-footed bathtub. Exactly why didn't Monk or Natalie think to consider a more permanent solution to preventing Jake from attempting to kill them again, like grabbing his gun and using it to detain him until the police could arrive to arrest him? Suggested correction: It's tricky to make that determination. First off they were panicked and possibly facing death. Not to mention he was a large and powerful guy. Maybe they grab the gun and maybe they detain him. You can't fault characters for making rash decisions. He was only incapicated for a short time so it may have been risky to take that option.

Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Continuity mistake: This mistake occurs when Monk and Natalie are sitting on the stairs watching the two men wrecking the walls. Close up shots show Natalie sitting with her legs crossed while the long shot shows her legs bent at the knee side by side.

Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Revealing mistake: When Cassie Drake pushes Joseph Moody down the stairs, it is very obvious that the man falling down the stairs is not Jack Carter. His hair is not even close to the same color.

Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Continuity mistake: When Monk is asking Ms. Moody if the roof is known, she's crying into both her hands. But in the next shot, she's only crying into her left hand and her right hand is down. The shot changes, and we see her lowering her right hand, not left. In the next shot her left hand is up again.

Adrian Monk: I don't know how he did it. But he did it.

Mr. Monk Goes to Mexico - S2-E2

Trivia: According to co-producer Tom Scharpling, the Mexican homicide cops are purposely written as parodies of Stottlemeyer and Disher, right down to their attitudes, their ranks, their suits, and Captain Alameda's mustache. Even the bumbling lieutenant's name is a little joke on Disher. Plato means "dish" in Spanish.

Show generally

Question: If Monk is afraid of germs, then why does he keep touching things that could possibly have germs on them like parking meters or books?

Answer: Notice also that in the opening credits scene when he is touching parking meters her also wipes his hand on his clothes each time he does it.

Answer: That's the thing about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It's not something rational. He just has to touch things like that. It's not something he can rationally think through. However, since part of his disorder includes an obsession with cleanliness, he also has an assistant walk around handing him wipes periodically. It's like when he gets a cold and uses both a humidifier (because that's what you use when you're congested) and a dehumidifier (to counteract the effects of the humidifier). He may spout rationalizations after he does something, but his compulsions exist outside of any rational thought whatever.
