General questions

I know why Green Screen and Blue Screen is used in movies, for computer special effects, especially for changing the background or environment around somebody. But what is the difference between blue screen and green screen other than obviously the color? what difference does it make which one they use and what are the purposes for either?

Quantom X

Chosen answer: There is not really a difference. The only time when one out benefits the other is when the wardrobe conflicts with either screen.

Watership Down (1978)

Question: I am struggling to figure out what the title of the movie, Watership Down, has to do with the movie itself at all. Can someone please explain what the title refers to?

Quantom X

Chosen answer: Watership Down is the name of a real hill in Hampshire. In the context of the film and the book, it is the location where Fiver and the other rabbits set up their new warren after leaving Sandleford.

The Mask of Zorro (1998)

Question: After they get away from the men that say the brothers are worth 200 pesos, they run across the military and one of the brothers is shot and the other runs. After the brother that was left behind shoots himself, the lead soldier cuts off his head in a single swing with his sword. But he has one of those thin swords you always see the commanders and stuff holding during those times. Would he have really been able to remove the Brother's head in one swing like that with such a flimsy sword?

Quantom X

Chosen answer: It would depend on four things: the sharpness of the sword, the strength of the steel used to forge it, the strength of the man swinging it, and the luck to slice though one of the ligaments between the victim's vertebrae, but theoretically, yes, it's possible to sever a head with a single sword blow.

The Ringer - S1-E1

Question: Once Zelda and Link confront Ganon on the road, he summons more skeletons up and they surround Link and Zelda. 7 Skeletons against Link and Zelda. So what's Link's plan of action? He takes off his belt and wraps it around himself and Zelda, strapping them together back to back to fight the 7 skeletons. This to me seems like it would just hinder their mobility. So my question is what is the really point of Link strapping himself to Zelda like that while surrounded? does it actually make sense to do that?

Quantom X

Chosen answer: It'll be to ensure that they're always facing directly away from each other, 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock, meaning between the two of them they've pretty much got 360 degree coverage. Otherwise there's a chance they might end up at say 12 o'clock and 3 o'clock, leaving themselves exposed from another direction.

Jon Sandys

Answer: Although the series creators have never confirmed this, it seems fairly obvious that MACC is inspired by Johnny 5.

Rio 2 (2014)

Question: The main villain of the movie goes a few scenes with you never seeing his face, until later on. And he just seems like the ordinary evil business man type of villain. Nothing special that I could tell. So what is the point of having his face hidden for so long in the film?

Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

Question: Why exactly is the girl called The Full Metal Bitch by the other soldiers? I know she did a heroic battle before, but why that name?

Quantom X

Chosen answer: It's a nickname referencing her attitude, and the fact she is wearing a suit of metal, probably referencing the movie (or ammunition type) "Full Metal Jacket".

The Nutcracker (1995)

Answer: The original 1816 story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by ETA Hoffmann features the seven-headed Mouse King. Since then there have been numerous adaptations and re-imaginings of that story in literature, on stage and screen in different forms. In the classic versions the Mouse King has seven heads wearing seven crowns, other versions he has only one head, and in a few versions three heads. In the original and other adaptations the number seven is specified several times: Marie Stahlbaum is seven yrs old; the seven-headed Mouse King; the seven steps backwards; seven little crowns. The makers of this animated movie chose to feature the classic Mouse King.

Men in Black 3 (2012)

Chosen answer: It's never explained how Zed died. Rip Torn, who played Zed, may have been unexpectedly written out because at around the time of filming he had been arrested for breaking into a bank branch while intoxicated and carrying a firearm (he believed he was entering his own home). Rather than going into a detailed reason for Zed's death or incorporating it into the plot, it was simply stated that he had passed away.

Question: When Hal Jordan goes on his kamikaze mission against Aquaman's sub, why does he have to use the alien ship that Abin Sur crashed in 8 years prior? Why not a stealth jet or something? Doesn't seem logical that the government would send a top secret, highly valuable alien space craft on a suicide bomber mission. And Hal was told from the start it was a suicide mission. So why send that ship to be destroyed?

Quantom X

Chosen answer: Because it was the only ship fast and agile enough to get even as close as it did to the sub.

Chosen answer: It's a scar. No explanation is given as to how he got it - presumably it was added to the character's look to suggest a violent past.

The Green Hornet (2011)

Question: Nicolas Cage was originally cast in the role of the film's villain, Chudnofsky. But he left the film just days before shooting. I have searched around on the net trying to find why, but I keep finding unclear and conflicting reports. So why did Cage leave the film?

Quantom X

Chosen answer: There were creative differences between Cage and the film's director, Michael Goundry. For one, Cage, who wanted an unconventional character, suggested the villain have a Jamaican accent. The director rejected that idea and there were others conflicts between the two about how the character should be played. Cage decided to turn down the role.

Men in Black 3 (2012)

Chosen answer: It was what Andy Warhol called his studio. Musician John Cale explained: "It wasn't called the Factory for nothing. It was where the assembly line for the silkscreens happened. While one person was making a silkscreen, somebody else would be filming a screen test. Every day something new."
