Swan Song - S5-E7

Character mistake: The killer's motive for the murder is getting kicked out of the band akin to Beatles drummer Pete Best, and Castle whispers to the camera that bass player Stu Sutcliffe would have been a more appropriate comparison. Sutcliffe quietly quit the Beatles voluntarily, while Best was fired, with his dismissal becoming widely-known public knowledge, so the comparison to Best actually is more applicable.

Day 8: 12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M. - S8-E21

Character mistake: When Chloe is talking to Arlo about the call Jack made to Meredith Reed, Chloe says that the call was made to Meredith's cell phone. But at Meredith's office, a coworker tells her the call is waiting (implying Jack called the office instead of Meredith directly), and once in her private office, she picks up the receiver of her land line. With all the phone tracing technology CTU has at its disposal, Chloe should be able to distinguish between the two.

Character mistake: When Fish is offering Jack the contract to sell Henry to the Yankees, and later when Jack insults Henry's father, they both refer to Jack as Henry's manager. But Martinella is Henry's manager; Jack is Henry's agent. While the terms can be used interchangeably in other businesses, such as music, in baseball they are two separate titles with separate job descriptions.

Choice - S5-E7

Character mistake: When Casey is talking to Rebecca Balthus about Jennifer's defense, Balthus claims that Jennifer is innocent and intends to prove it. While she can present a defense, Balthus is not required to prove anything: the burden of proof lies solely on Casey; Jennifer possesses what is called the presumption of innocence, the basic principle that she is considered innocent until it's proven she's guilty.

Character mistake: When Howard finds the stack of paychecks in Sheldon's drawer and wonders why Sheldon hasn't cashed them, Sheldon explains that he's saving them to purchase items that have yet to be invented and he doesn't trust banks. But just keeping them in his drawer doesn't do anything, because checks are voided after a set period of time and they would eventually become worthless.

The Closer - S1-E22

Character mistake: When Hawkes shows Mac, Danny, and Aiden a bruise on Gilbert Novotny's body, and tells them he was struck with a baseball, Danny refers to Gilbert as "George Novotny", like Stella did earlier in the episode. (00:28:15)

Criminal Minds (2005)

Zugzwang - S8-E12

Character mistake: When Reid realizes who the unsub is, he asks Hotch if he was introduced as "Doctor" or "Agent". As explained in the pilot (and in every episode since), the team has always introduced Reid as "Doctor", to make sure that the people they meet treat him with respect and don't just see him as a kid.

Suggested correction: I think the reason Reid asks for a clarification is because the unsub knew his name and title when he hadn't been formally introduced because this case was under special circumstances so the team wasn't being formal.

It has nothing to do with being formal. The mistake is saying the team never introduces Reid as "Agent Reid", so there's no reason to for Reid to even ask this question.

Bishop73

I think what they meant was that it would be assumed his title was agent, as he is a part of the FBI, but she addressed him by his correct title without any indication of his title being different to the others, which ultimately suggested that she knew Reid beforehand.

Mosley Lane - S5-E16

Character mistake: Reid tells Mrs. Hillridge that he's been working for the BAU about five and a half years, which is roughly since the pilot aired in 2005. But flashbacks in "Tabula Rasa" show that Reid was a relatively new rookie in 2004, which is roughly six years. Considering Reid has an eidetic memory, the six-month discrepancy is a bit suspicious.

The Face of the Dragon - S1-E17

Character mistake: Near the end of the episode, McGarrett tells Dr. Kuh "The imposter Lewis Shen murdered your uncle." The uncle McGarrett is referring to was, earlier in the episode, referred to as Dr. Kuh's grandfather. (00:27:40 - 00:46:45)

Character mistake: In the Air Force One scene, when lightning destroys one of the plane's engines, one of the pilots tells a co-pilot to inform Metropolis Airport that the president is on board the plane. The crew is unnecessarily repeating themselves: just a few moments before, they radioed in that "Air Force One" was on approach; the plane would only have that call sign if the president was on board.
