Friends (1994)

Correction: There's no mistake here. Just after the fireman leaves Phoebe walks behind the sofa towards the counter and is out of shot for easily enough time to order coffee. When we see her again, Gunther is in the background preparing coffee as requested.

Correction: I've watched this scene carefully and the mistake is wrong. We very clearly see Phoebe turn the photo to show her mother.

Friends (1994)

Correction: He has put them on the floor between his feet, after all there is nowhere else to put them. There is no reason why he would step on them since he knows they are there. We can't see them because we never see a shot of the floor.

The One Where Rachel's Sister Babysits - S10-E5

Corrected entry: When Joey uses the thesaurus to write his recommendation letter to the adoption agency, he signs the letter, "Baby Kangaroo Tribbiani." While certainly comic, and even though the word "joey" does mean "baby kangaroo," it does not come up in the MS Word thesaurus (and it was strongly suggested that they were using Word, as they referenced the thesaurus being under the Tools menu), nor does www.thesaurus.com correlate the two.

DavidK93

Correction: Most software has a Tools menu so it's not reasonable to assume that it could only be MS Word.

Friends (1994)

The One With Ross's Tan - S10-E3

Corrected entry: Why do Rachel and Joey have to ask Chandler what it was like for him and Monica going from "friends to...more than that," when Rachel already has first hand experience with that exact situation, with Ross? While Ross was always interested in Rachel, so never had a radical shift to cope with, Rachel only viewed Ross as a close friend until she found out his feelings.

DavidK93

Correction: It's true that Rachel already went through this experience as is mentioned earlier in the episode but she always knew Ross had a crush on her as she said in the very first episode. Rachel is just asking how it was for Chandler because things are working out very differently for her and Joey compared to her and Ross so she doesn't know which one is "normal". She's just asking for advice so I don't see any mistake.

Titanic (1997)

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the film Old Rose and her granddaughter see the picture Jack drew and Rose's granddaughter comments, "Do you really think that is you Nanna?" Yet at the end of the film we see that everywhere Rose goes she keeps many pictures of herself as a young woman, so her granddaughter would have undoubtedly seen these pictures and their resemblance to the drawing.

Correction: She may be able to see the resemblance but she may have difficulty believing that it's her grandmother. I think most of us would have some doubts if a very aged relative claimed that a drawing just retrieved from the Titanic was of them.

Titanic (1997)

Corrected entry: When Jack and Rose are running through the boiler room, notice their clothes are perfectly clean, even after they ran through the smoke and such. (01:19:35)

Correction: I see no reason at all why their clothes would get dirty, smoke may make their clothes smell but that's about all.

Bruce Almighty (2003)

Corrected entry: After Bruce is hit by the truck and the paramedics are shocking him back to life, he is on wet ground. Factually, you cannot use a defibrillator on a wet surface or everyone around will be shocked. (01:25:45)

Correction: The defibrillator has two paddles. The current coming from one of them looks for the easiest way to earth and by far the easiest way is the second paddle. Secondly, it does not matter what voltage you apply to a wet surface, you cannot electrocute anyone standing on that surface unless some part of their body above the feet is grounded. You cannot be shocked if the voltage does not have a path through your body.

Corrected entry: A minor (though not story-shattering) plot hole: During their drive from Zurich to Paris, Jason and Marie would have found the Swiss-French border in their way - something which doesn't even seem to cross their minds (or the minds of the CIA agents who are trying to track them). Given that Jason had just caused a major security panic at the US Consulate in Zurich, getting out of Switzerland would probably have been a bit trickier than portrayed in the film. Even if the CIA and the Swiss police didn't know where they were headed, they did have IDs on both Jason and Marie, as well as a description of their car. One way or another, Jason and Marie would have had to figure out a way to get into France undetected. Yes, maybe we're "bending reality" a bit here for the purposes of the film, but as a frequent international traveller, this is one "bending" that bugs me a bit. I wish I could make pain-in-the-neck border officers disappear that easily.

Correction: I used to live in Switzerland and drive to France all the time without being stopped at the border. The border guards are much stricter when entering Switzerland but there are roads which are fully guarded only during the day with occasional guards at night to catch out those who shop too much in France (they even have voluntary customs posts believe it or not because the Swiss are alarmingly honest). In general, leaving Switzerland is easy so there's no mistake.

Sliding Doors (1998)

Corrected entry: When James drops Helen off after their date, he says "bring something warm on Saturday, it will be cold on the water." Yet Helen is able to apply for a small business loan, receive a letter of approval by mail and paint her new business' office all before the scene when she goes to watch James in the crew race on the river.

Correction: It's certainly fast but not impossible. Small business loans can be approved the same day (Monday) and a letter received the next morning (Tuesday). This gives four days to locate an office and some paint which in a city like London should be possible.

Friends (1994)

Correction: Yes it's a fake but there was never any attempt to make it look real - the blood spray is over the top too. It's just another aspect of the scene's silliness.

Corrected entry: This is a strong contender for the mistake earliest into a movie: When Charles' alarm clock rings at 9.00 the hour hand hasn't reached the set time yet (about 9.30). This happens 7 seconds after the movie actually starts, and it happens again when he gets up for the second wedding. (00:00:35 - 00:33:15)

NancyFelix

Correction: I've had cheap alarm clocks with exactly this behaviour where the alarm goes off when the hour hand gets close to the alarm hand. That it happens twice supports the fact that it's a "feature" of the clock rather than a movie mistake. The trick to using such clocks is to adjust the time to your desired waking time and then adjust the alarm hand until the alarms sounds, then adjust the time back. In all probability the alarm clock was just set to go off anyway, rather than having the sound dubbed afterwards, so that's just how it worked.

Sliding Doors (1998)

Corrected entry: Just before the split into the two realities right at the beginning, Helen goes through a ticket gate at a London Underground station. On those ticket gates it's compulsory to put your ticket through to make the doors swing open and the ticket pops up on the other side. However if you watch closely, her ticket never leaves her hand, the doors just open miraculously.

Correction: The guy who goes through before her does exactly the same thing and if you look very closely you can see Helen insert the ticket and position her hand waiting for the ticket to be returned to her. She is definitely looking down at where the ticket comes out. Makes more sense to force people to take the ticket before the gates will open otherwise they may forget it.

The Green Mile (1999)

Corrected entry: Edgecomb sees that Del is watching him with the help of a small hand mirror, something death-row prisoners certainly aren't allowed to have because of the danger for themselves or others. (00:54:30)

NancyFelix

Correction: Although probably forbidden, this would be at the discretion of Tom Hanks who figured Del was not a danger to himself or others.

tw_stuart

Corrected entry: There is no explanation why David transferred to a hospital in London even though the attack took place in Yorkshire.

Correction: Granted there is no explanation in the movie but it's not a mistake. People get transferred between hospitals all the time. It's to be expected that a hospital in London has better facilities and as an American citizen (in a coma), the embassy may have requested that he be transferred to a location near them.

tw_stuart

Correction: The people in East Proctor purposely moved David far away from their village after his attack because they knew he would become a werewolf. They just managed to kill off the first one and so didn't want another.

Moonraker (1979)

Corrected entry: In space the space shuttles make a jet sound even though there is no sound in space. Even the ones leaving from the space station make this noise and although there might be some rumbling to be heard inside the space station, there wouldn't be anything else since there is no atmosphere for sound to travel through.

Tobin OReilly

Correction: Yes, technically a mistake but the sounds are added for our benefit so we know what's going on. It would be pretty boring if all space scenes in all movies were required to be in silence just to be factually accurate.

tw_stuart

Corrected entry: Isn't it unusual that radio stations were still up and running even after the disasters?

Correction: No, radio stations can have their own power generators and may be on high ground to increase transmission range but this would also protect them from the flooding. Where I live we had a massive flood and the radio station moved it's broadcasts from downtown to the mountain where the transmitter is located.
